The meet ing, which was a picnic supper, was called at 6:00 o'clock on the lawn of Mrs. Wadp Reece. A de lightful supper was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Reece, Mrs. Al wayne Stratton, Mrs. Quay Her bert, Mrs. Sarah E. Chandler, Mrs. Margaret McCraney, Miss Gladys Christy and Miss Elizabeth Troxler. The business meeting was then called to order by the new presi jent, Mrs. Henry Trotter, and she relcomed the following new mem bers into the Club: Mrs. Robert Heaton, Miss Meredith Whitaker, Mrs. Norma Lunsford ,Mrs. Jack McCraney, Mrs. Hazel Olson, Miss Frances McPherson, Miss Elizabeth Troxler and Mrs. J. C. Lime. Reports of the secretary and treasurer were read and accepted. The treasurer reported a balance of S323.50. The committee working on or ganizing a Junior Woman's Club reported the younger women of the town were interested in such a Club. Announcement was made of the District Club meeting to be held in Bryson City on September 20, at H'hich meeting the Konnaheeta club was to furnish special music. The sponsoring of a Girl Scout Troop by the Club was discussed. The motion was made and carried that Miss Troxler be appointed as Club representative to work out something with the present Girl Scout leader, and the matter to be discussed more fully lpter. The Konnaheeta Club was also urged to give its moral support to the Boy Scout Troop in town. The program committee reported the dates on which the various committees would have their pro grams. Miss Jean Christy presented the | request of the high school young people for the Club to sponsor I Youth Night. A motion was made and carried and voted on to spon sor "Youth Night". The following committee was appointed to dis cuss this further with the P. T. A. and Supt. I. B. Hudson: Miss Jean Christy, chairman, Mrs. Gene Nichols, Mrs. Margaret McCraney, Mrs. Lucy Laughter, Mrs. Wade I Reece and Mrs. Alwayne Stratton. | A motion was made and seconded I that the committee complete its plans and begin "Youth Night" as soon as it sees fit. A card of thanks was read by Miss Gladys Christy, chairman of the sympathy committee, from Mrs. j Elton Bradley. There being no further business the meting adjourned. Joe Ray Speaks At Meeting Of Rotary Club ANDREWS ? Joe Ray, presi dent of the Murphy Lions Club, supplied the program of the local , Rotary Club at its meeting here September 18. Lion Ray urged closer cooperation between the Rotary Club and the Lions Club. He pointed out numerous ways in which this could be done. He pre sented the matter of Highway As sociation 129 to the Club, and told why he thought the Club should support the organization. Acting president Robert Heaton, promised to appoint a committee to repre sent Andrews at a forthcoming meeting of the Association at Vogel State Park near Neal's Gap on October 1, at 2:30 p. m. Mr. Ray also explained the pur pose of the gum machine which it was proposed to install in the busi ness houses of various firms. All profits from the machines would go to the Lions' blind funds. The v/ork which the Lions Clubs have done for the blind is outstanding and well known. Lion Ray also, while here, ar ranged for a softball game between the Murphy Lions and the Andrews Rotarians on a return basis. Andrews Personals Mrs. F. L. Miss Nancy Aileene Moody, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smith Moody of Villa Rica, Ga., became the bride of Lee Nichols, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Nichols of Andrews, in a candle light ceremony Monday, Septem ber 15, at 8:00 o'clock at the Meth odist church in Villa Rica, with the Rev. Wallace Wiggins officiat ing, using the double ring cere mony. The church was decorated with ivy, baskets of sun glow gladioli, pink asters and pink tapers in candelabra with fan-shaped fern arrangements forming a back ground. A program of wedding music was presented by Fred Cleghorn, Jr., pianist, and Miss Peggy Eyler of Bristol, Tenn., soloist. Miss Fyler sang "At Dawning", "Ah1 Sweet Mystery of Life" and "Be cause". .Mr. Cleghorn played "I Love Thee" prior to the ceremony. The traditional wedding marches were used, and "Pomp and Cir cumstances" was played as the attendants entered. "Ave Maria" was played during the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of pink tissue taffeta of Victorian style, made with a fitted bodice, the full skirt extending into a short train and long sleeves ending in calla lily points over the hands. Her veil of pink illusion was at tached to a halo matching her dress. She carried an arm bouquet of pink roses showered with satin streamers. Mrs. Martha Moody Holmes, sis ter of the bride, Milledgeville, Ga., was matron of honor. Mrs. Harris Harper, also sister of the bride, Milledgeville, was senior attend ant. Both wore gowns of pink tis sue taffeta with and off shoulder neckline, fitted bodice with full skirts extending into a slight train. They wore long mitts to match their dress and a coronet of pink flowers as headdresses. They car ried large nosegays of mixed flow- ^ ers showered with blue and silver , streamers. ( Miss Peggy Jo O'Neal, niece of ( the bride, of Madison, was junior . attendant. She wore a gown of . blue taffeta, the skirt overlaid with ruffles made of net with a Fash of satin forming a bustle in 1 the back. Little Lucy Lee Talley, 1 niece of the groom, of Gadsden, ^ Ala . was flower girl. Her dress was made identical to the junior attendant. They carried old fash ioned nosegays showered with pink and silver streamers. Hill Candler, uncle of the groom was best man and usher-grooms men were Ivey Underwood of Macon, Ga , and Tommy Lee Peace of Atlanta. Immediately following the cere mony the guests were entertained at a rereeption given by the bride's parents in the church parlor. In keeping with the wedding the pink and white. motif was carried out in the room. After being greeted -by the bride and groom, their parents and wedding party, the guests were served from a beautifully decorated bride's table which was centered with a pink three-tiered cake sur rounded with miniature brides maids and tall pink tapers that made a fitting background for the cake cutting by the bride and groom. The table was covered with white edged with ivy and deli cate pink bows. The pink color scheme was also carried out in the platters of dainty sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres, hand-decorated mints and punch. Mrs. R. E. O'Neal of Madison, Ga.. acted as hostess and was lovely in a royal blue dinner dress trimmed in silver sequins.' Miss Felicia Wilson kept the bride's book. Misses Valeria Morris, Krlene Tackett, Nell Pope and Mrs. Nell Hamrick Snelling assisted in serving. The bride's mother wore a laven der dress with black accessories. Her corsage was of pink rosebuds. Funeral services were held last Sunday, September JO, 3:30 p. m. at the Lutheran Church here for William Marcus "Billy") Holland, age 30, who died after an illness of several weeks at Mrs. Nichols, mother of the groom, wore a blue dress with a ?orsage of pink carnations. After the reception the couple left for a wedding trip. For travel ing the bride wore a slate blue wool crepe dress with brown ac cessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. The couple will reside in Ral eigh, N. C., where the groom is a student at N. C. State College. a hospital in Murphy. The Rev. C C. Washam, pastor of the Meth odist Church, officiated. Mrs. G. W. Cover was in charge of the music. Surviving are: the widow, the former Miss Frances Whitaker, and one son. William Boone; the par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Holland; two brothers, Willard and Harold Holland all of Andrews; two sis ters, Mrs. Flora Mae Cruse of An drews and Mrs'. Marguerite Sims of Youngstown, Ohio. Interment was in the Andrews cemetery. Ivie funeral home of Murphy was in charge of arrange ments.
