268 Children Eat
In Lunchroom
ANDREWS? Supt. I. B Hudson |
announces that 268 children ate at
the Andrews lunchroom each of 1
the 22 days lunches were served
for the month of October. An I
average of 20 teachers also were
served. An average of 20 free '
lunches were served daily. How* |
ever, at this writing, fifty free I
lunches are served daily. Children
pay 15 cents for lunches in grades
first through the seventh. All up
per grades pay 20 cents per lunch, j
and faculty members pay 25 cents
per lunch.
The following free commodities
in specified quantities have been
received during the fall from the
United States Department of Agri
culture by way of the North Caro
lina Department of Agriculture.
Marketing division: Irish potatoes,
sweet potatoes, orange juice, and ,
canned tomatoes.
Miss Lucile Bell is lunchroom
i manager. She has the following
! helpers: Mrs. Ethel Ammons, Mrs.
Delila Hardin. Mrs. Kate Hogsed
and Mrs. Lucy Mehaffey.
Miss Polly Hicks is lunchroom
treasurer. Usual lunchroom ex
penditures and receipts amount to
approximately $15,000 per year.
The monthly income for October
was $1276.29. while the expendi
tures were SI 168.58.
The Marble lunchroom had a
daily average of 47 children. Mrs.
J. W. Bryson is manager and she
is assisted by her husband. J. W.
Bryson. Monthly income for the
Marble lunchroom was $227.08.
and expenditures were $257.75.
Mrs. Carrie Wilson spent the^
first of the week in Ashoville with
her sister. Mrs. Earl Orr, and her J
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrj. Robert Wilson.
If a eow gets all the water she
wants, she will give 8 to 15 per '
eent more milk.
