Hay were hostesses in the latter's home Friday evening at the Christmas program of the Business Woman's circle of First Baptist church. The home was decorated with Christmas decora tions, including a Christmas tree, under which the members placed gifts as they arrived. Mrs. It. D. Chandler was in charge of the program, which was entitled, "The First Christmas Mrs. Chandler read the scripture and Mrs. J. J. Hamilton told the story of "The First Christmas". Christmas carols were sung. The hostesses served molded ice cream, homemade cake and cof fee. Plans were made for sending gifts to a family in Germany that the B W. C. has adopted, and the following were appointed by Mrs. John Donley, president, to serve on the committee: Miss Addie Mae Cooke. Mrs. J. J. Hamilton and Mrs. Hoy Lovingood. Christmas Party Held At Buecks The Murphy unit of the Nortli ^ Carolina Education association ( held its Christmas party at the I home of Supt. and Mrs. H. Bueck ' Thursday evening. Miss Emily Sword read "Ho.v ( Come Christmas"-by Roark Trad ford. Miss Jean Penny sang "Sweet ( Baby Jesus" and "The Star of Bethlehem." Porter Raper sang 4 White Christmas", and the group sang Christmas carols. After exchanging gifts refresh ments were served. The Bueck residence was deco rated in Christmas greens, red car nations and lighted candles. A Christmas tree stood in the dining room. Thirty five were present. Santa Claus visited Murphy schools Friday and was in the | lunchroom during the noon lunch 1 period, giving fruits to the pupils j as they came in for their Christ- < mas dinner. The lunchroom, which is manag ed by Mrs. Myrtle Robinson, had been decorated with paintings done by Miss Addie Leatherwood's and John Jordan's seventh grad ers. Mrs, Vau^ht Is Auxiliary Hostess Mrs. Ben Vaught was hostess for the annual Christmas party of the Fresbyterian Woman's auxiliary at her home Friday afternoon. The meeting was opened with prayer by the president, Mrs. Ed Brumby, and "A White Christmas" was sung by Mary Bolan Brumby, Carolyn Alexander and Carol Sue Vaught with Mrs. Vaught at the piano. A short business session was held and the .Joy Gift" offering for Ministerial Relief was receiv ed. 11 was voted to send a Christ mas basket to a needy family.
