for Pvt. Jack Hogan, U. S. Army,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hogan
of Andews, were held at 2:00 P.
M. Tuesday, April 27. at the Chap
el in the Valleytown Cemetery.
The Rev. Ed Willix of Sylva of

Pvt. Hogan was killed near
Fort Lawn, S. C., in a collision |
when the truck in which he was
riding collided with a car carry
ing four women. The driver of
the truck was reported to be
James B. Padgett of Charlotte. Ho
was also badly injured. It was not
known who was driving the car
in which the young women were

the Presbyterian church met at
the home of Mrs. J. C. Lime
Thursday evening, at 7:30 o'clock.
Mrs. Lime presided and called
the meeting to order with prayer.
She then distributed the Guide
books for the year and asked that
it be used more intensively. She
urged that as many as possible
attend the meeting held in Hender
ionville on April 27.

Clinic To Be
Held At Andrews
School May 7
ANDREWS ? The Annual Pre
school Clinic will be conducted at
the Andrews Elementary School
on Friday. May 7. The clinic will
continue throughout the school
day.
This date is of the utmost im
portance to parents who have
children to be enrolled in the first
grade next fall. The parents are
asked to accompany their child
ren. in order that remedial defects
found may have necessary atten
tion. The child may be brought to
the clinic any time during the
school day and upon completion
i)f examination the child may re
turn home, as it will not be neces
sary to stay all day. The children
who ride the buses and must re
main at school all day will be
given lunch in the school lunch
room. There will be no charges
for these lunches. These children
will be under the supervision of
the first grade teachers and the
Health Nurse throughout the day.
