Mrs. Louisa Rogers has moved back to her old home in Georgia. Mrs. Crawford Auberry fell and broke her hip and had to be tak en to a hospital in Atlanta last Monday. She is now in a Murphy hospital, and her condition is somewhat improved. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wilson, and Mrs. Aud Wilson and family spent Sunday evening with Mrs. Sarah Tweed of Little Brasstown, who is reported to be one hundred and tight years old. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Mareow of Alestec, Oklahoma, their daughter and her family, were visitors of Mrs. Mareows brother, Mr. and Mrs. Will Brendle, here last week. Mrs. Mamie Rich was a business visitor in Blairsville, Ga., last Saturday. Boyd Scroggs. who has been in the hospital in Murphy, is much improved. Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt V. Rogers of Cut Cane spent the week-end with her parents here, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Garrett. The Girl Scouts gave a farewell party last week for Miss Edna Richie, who is leaving shortly for her home in Kentucky. The revival at Little Brasstown Church closed Sunday night, July 25. Twenty-four people were bap tised into the church. Miss Wanda Scroggs and Bill Hampton were married last Sun c'ay. Ira Davenport of Dooly was a business visitor in this section last week. Bob Garrett was the Sunday dinner guest of Wallace Massey. Several people from this section attended the funeral service of | Mr. and Mrs. Ot Puitt's son. at Brasstown Baptist Church, near Warne, Sunday afternoon. The soldier son's body was recently I shipped back here. Lions Defeat Ragland Team The Lions defeated Ragland in an error-filled Softball game on Friday night. Though there was ome spectaeular hitting, errors | filled the game. Adair led the Lions on the plate with two consecutive home runs, while on the same side Sherrill uid Burch got homers and Plonk a three-bagger. Cook Taken By Death At Age Of 88 Funeral services for Francis I Henry Clay Cook, 88, who died July 21. were held Friday, at i Macedonia Methodist Church. Burial was in Macedonia Church cemetery with Townson funeral home in charge. Mr. Cook was born in Union | County, Ga., June 25, 1860. He ac- 1 cepted Christ and joined the j Methodist Church in his early , youth and it is said he has been a j loyal and faithful Christian ever j | since. He was married to Mahala Annas Little September, 1879, and ( to this union were born four girls , and five boys, of whom seven are living. He has 35 grand-children 60 great grand-children, and tv/o great great grand-children. He is survived by seven child ren: Mrs. C. B. Raper, Mrs. Carl Thomas, Luther and Edd Cook of Culberson. Clarence Cook of Blairsville, Ga., Mrs. E. L. Town- I son and Will Cook of Murphy. He has two sisters and one broth er living: Mrs. C. L. Rhodes of Culberson, Mrs. E. L. Chapman of Atworth.
