By Fire
The home of Fred Davis at

morning by fire of undetermined
origin Mi. Davis awoke about

Baptists To Have
Student Night
Student night will be observed
at First Baptist ehureh on Sun
day night, December 26. The col
lege students will have charge of
the program. The theme will be
"Magnifying the Lord in College
Life The opening prayer will
be by Harold Ashe, of Murphy
high school. Scripture reading
will be by Juanita Chambers and
Betty Beal of Murphy high school.
Magnifying Christ through the
Baptist Student Union will be
discussed as follows: Alice Jayne
Dockery, Gardner-Webb college,
"In My College Activities"; Mrs.
Maureen Weiss. University of
South Carolina. "In My Scolastic
Life"; Faye Boling, Truett-Mc
Connel Junior college, "In My
Church Life".
Special music will be by the
youth choir.
Jerry Hall, Wake Forest college
will bring a message, "Christ's
Challenge to College Youth".
Jean Reid, University of Tampa,
will serve as organist.

Are Held For
Elderly Man
Funeral services were held in
Philadelphia Baptist church Tues
day at 2 p. m. for Francis D.
Nicholson. 91. who died Monday
at his home near Hayesville after
a long illness
The Rev. Sim Martin, the Rev.
Fielding Garrett and the Rev.
Havden Hogsed officiated. Burial
was in the church cemetery with
Townson funeral home in charge.
Surviving are three sons, John,
William and Prince of Hiawassee,
Ga ; three daughters. Mrs. Bertha
Waldroup, Mrs. Merta Roome of
Frentice. and Mrs. Dela Hollifield

of his wife December 15 at their
