A met Thursday night, at 7:30 the assembly room of the new w ool building. Miss Mary Rule, president, presided. Mrs. Martha Adams was in charge of the pro gram which was entitled, "The Curriculum". This program was another in a series on Elementary education as applied to Murphy, schools. The program was in the form of a questionnaire which was answered and discussed by mem bers of the primary, g rammer grade anH high school faculty, as applied the curriculum in each group. After the program the grammar Jradc teachers who took part on the program served refreshments to the 33 members and the one guest present Frank Dickey And Jack Christopher Receive Honors Jack Christopher and Frank Dickey of Murphy have just com pleted a five and a halt months training course for lumber inspec tors conducted by the National Hardwood Lumber association in Memphis Tenn. In a class of 44 graduating at the time. Christopher was top mail, and Dickey was fourth. About half of the stud ents in the course were college graduates and four of them Pores try graduates. Both of these young men. whose attendance at the school was sponsored by Bruce Gordon of Murphy, have received attractive offers for positions. Christopher is the son of K. O. Christopher, and Dickey the son of Mrs Leila Dickey of Murphy. Certificates of proficiency were presented at a luncheon at Pea body hotel. L. C. Nicely, director Y>f the school, said: "We are proud of this class. Its members are fine upstanding young men. and they will be a credit to the lum ber industry They have studied and worked hard and will undoubt edly rise high in the industry. "For five and one-half months] they have studied the rule book learned how to grade and measure lumber, learned species and have absorbed information here that would have taken yea is in the old way But they have learned more than that. They have been taught how to get along with people with whom they will come in contact so that when they go out in the lumber plants and yards their work will be made easier." Mr. and Mrs. If. G. Stockholders To Meet March 11 The annual stockholders' meet ing of the Farmers Federation for Cherokee county will be held in the Murphy warehouse of the organization Friday night. Reports of the federation's busi ness during the past year will be made, and committeemen will be elected for the coming year.
