IN memoriam Mrs. Emma Tate The journey o>f life lies along the dark valley of the shadow of death. There is no spot on its pilgrimage where his presence is unknown. There is no family over whose hearthstone his sombre I shadow does not i'adl There is always somewhere some eye that is weeping, some heart that is bleeding, some home whose light is extinguished and whose altars are draped in the testimonals of sorrow. Death is no respecter of persons. He visits alike the rich and the poor, the great and the small, the illustrious statesman and the most obscure citizen. He crosses the threshold of the palace, and sum mons those of royal birth, and in the same like manner he enters the door of the hovel and garners the inmates there. Do not be alarmed, it is only the Divine plan of the Father of us all who sum mons His children home. It was Wednesday evening. May 11. 1949. ' when all that was mortal of Mrs ! Emma Tate passed from this earth- 1 Iv home to a haven of eternal rest, j DICKEY THEATRE Murphy, N. C. H atch For Our First Run Pictures! j ADM. 12c - 30c DOUBLE FEATURE Saturday. She wai married in Juno. 1890, to the Rev i Ahel Tate, who preceded her tc I the grave. She possesed those sterling qualities that made her intelligent | and even though she was unletter ed she was not unlearned. She was very industrious and when it became her lot to share with her brother the responsibility of rear ing his children who were left motherless, she spared no pains in providing for them, instilling4in them the true principles of nobil ity and untarnished womanhood. Mis Tate admired those ideals that were elevating and was frank in her expressions toward that end She was. until she became disabl ed. a constant church attendant giving liberally of her limited means Twas but a year ago she was more faithful in attending a revival ni-lht and early morning than main who were younger and far more able than she. to attend In the la-' days of her illness she seemed to ave lived in a spiritual world, and her inner self saw only the beautiful. She would remark How beautiful everything seems, and everybody has been ?*) good" She had relinquished her hold on anything earthly and all was ethereal Like the plant that ceases at a certain stage to draw substance from the soil, but de pends upon pollination for nur ture she too ceased to accept the curative elements of a physical world and was nurtured by the Holy Spirit and fell peacefully to sleep. Trul> we sliall have her with js no more, but let us be consoled vith this thought, that she has >assed the quivering bars of the i .unset, her plumed spirit has 'loated thru the translucent seas >f ruby. opal, and amethyst, she ias passed the glittering splendors ind burnished systems that flash rom the jeweled arch of the mid- 1 >it*ht. passed from death unto life. | rom great trials and tribulations into perfect rest, and has joined ' >eyond the golden bars her loved ind lost, and is chanting upon a [olden harp the sweet refrain of riumph She is wearing by the rvstal river the victor's crown of ife.
