Under this plan. Andrews will receive $2,288. and Murphy $11984 The General statutes require | that the municipal fund shall be expended first on street-, inside cities and towns which form a part of tile stale highway system and secondly on "streets which form I important connect in links' to the ' state highway system, or the coun ty hiuhway system, or farm to market roads. If any funds are left at the end of the year the balance shall accrue to the credit of each city and town for the ensu ing fiscal year. The Cherokee County chapter of t!n> \ merit- an Red Cross will inaugurate a blood program for i.iic County on June 21 when a Red Cions mobile unit is scheduled to arrive in Murphy. The unit, v.hiih will spend Tuesday in Mur j ! 1 y and will come four times a year, will use the First Baptist ( hurch basement as headquarters. Blood donated will be distributed to hospitals in the County to sup ply blood without charge to Ihe people of the community. The center opens at 10 a. m., and donors will be scheduled at intervals throughout the day. A physician and specially trained registered nurses will be present in the center. Any person in good health, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is between the ages of 21 and 59, inclusive, fulfills the donor requirements. Minors, 18 years and over, can be accepted only when they have proper writ ten permission from a parent or guardian. During the past two weeks volunteer workers in the com munity have been recruiting don ors for the program. According to W. Merle Davis, chairman of the prog! am, more donors are urgently needed to fulfill the quota. He asks that anyone wil ling to give blood contact him or the Red Cross home service office immediately.
