In? f "Rusty Leads ? the Way" Also Serial: "Congo Bill" t No. 10 Picnic Given In Honor Of Miss Cornwell On Tuesday evening the Peach tree Home Demonstration club gave a picnic at .the home of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Sudderth honoring Miss Mary Cornwell. home agent, who is leaving the county July 1st. A. large picnic supper was spread on the lawn. Games led by Miss Cornwell were then play ed. Mrs. Brown Caldwell, president of the Peachtree club presented Miss Cornwell with a giift from the club. Approximately 100 club women, husbands and children attended. Mabel Hall Is Bride C. J. Collins Miss Mabel Dorothy Hall of Charlotte, daughter of Mrs. Mark Irvin Hall and the late Mr. Hall of Murphy, became the bride of Clyde Jacob Collins of Charlotte, son of Mr. and Mrs. Erman Prof fitt Sims, of Asheville, in a cere mony Saturday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at Saint Martin's Episcopal church, Asheville. The Rev. C. Alfred Cole officiated. The vows were spoken before an arrangement of Chrysta daisies. The bride wore a white linen dress with a White linen picture hat and white accessories. She wore a single strand of pearls and carried a white prayer book with gardenias and lilies of the valley tied with white satin streamers and lilies of thhe valley. The couple left for a wedding trip to the mountains of North Carolina. For traveling the bride wore an aqua suit with brown ac cessories and a shoulder bouquet of gardenias. The couple will re turn to Charlotte and will be at home at 1432 East Seventh street. The bride was graduated from the University of North Carolina, and she served in the Army Nurse corps for two and one-half years. She is employed as public (health nurse with the city health depart ment in Charlotte. The bridegroom was graduated from the University of North Carolina, where he was a member o 1 Oelta Sigma Pi commerce fraternity, and served in the Army jn Europe four years. He is em ployed by Swift and Company. Mr. and Mrs. Joe M. Causby and baby. Marlene, of Marion are visiting Mrs. Causby's parents. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Forrester this week. Miss Bettie Lee Sanders of Smithfield. spent last week-end here with her niece Mrs. George A. Mauney and family. Heok circle of First ; Baptist Church on Tuesday after noon. The meeting was opened by singing "Must I Go, and Empity Handed". Mrs W. C. Kinney gave 1 the devotional and Mrs. L. W. U. met Tuesday after noon with Mrs. Howard McDonald. Mrs. Sam Harding, chairman, pre sided over the business session. Mrs. J. Alton Morris, leader of the program, gave the devotional and discussed the theme. "Free dom in the Truth". Others taking part on the pro gram were, Mrs. J. L. Savage. Mrs. Harding. Mrs. Ruby Hill and Mrs. Henry Hyatt who closed the meeting with prayer. Refreshments were served to nine members and one visitor. Mrs. R. T. Sylvester. Baptist Services Are Announced The Rev. J. Alton Morris will preach at First Baptist Church Sun day morning at 11 o'clock on the subject. "The Faithful Nation", and Sunday evening at 8 o'clock on. "Only the Best". Honor Guests At Bridge Party Mrs. Dale Lee and Mrs. Jimmy Ward entertained Wednesday with a bridge luncheon at Junaluska Terrace Hotel at Andrews honor ing their sister. Mrs. H. G. Mrs. R. W. White Is New President Of Junior Club The Junior Woman's club held its last meeting of the season in the form of a family picnic recent ly. About 30 members and friends enjoyed the occasion. Due to the resignation of Miss Mary Cornwell as president, Mrs. R. W. White was elected to suc ceed in this position, for the com ing year. Mrs. Harold Wells was elected treasurer to repLace Mrs. White. Club Members To Attend Camp Cherokee County 4-H Club boys and girls will leave Murphy on Monday July 11, for a week at Swannanoa 4-H Club Camp. They will be joined ait Oamp by 4-H Club members from Mitchell. Avery and Waitonga Counties. The group will be accompanied by Assistant County Agent, Mack Pat ton, and Assistant Home Agent, Louise Matthews. McClure To Speak Here The Rev. R. E. McClure, execu tive secretary of Asheville Presby tery will preach at the Presby terian Church here Sunday morn ing at 11 o'clock. The pastor, the Rev. James R. Crook, will preach in the Hayesville Presbyterian Church Sunday morning. Mrs. Ben Palmer i Hostess To Mae Perry Circle The Mae Perry Circle of the Baptist VV. M. U. met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ben Palmer, with Mrs. Palmer serving as leader of the program. The meeting was opened wi/th the hymn, "Rescue the Perishing". Bible reading was given by Mrs fi. A Browning, with prayer by Mrs. B. L. Fox. Those taking part and topics discussed were. Mrs. Palmer, whose topic was "By All Means Winning All"; Mrs. W H. Murray, "Who Willi Educate Nigeria?"; Mrs. Fox, "Power of Personal Wiitnessiing". Mrs. J. C. Ammons closed the meeting with prayer after which the hostess served refreshments to nine members I Pennv Lists Services The Daily Vacation Church | School commencement will be held at First Methodist Church at 9:45 a. m. on Sunday, July 3, announces the pastor, the Rev. W. B. Penny. The whole church will assemble for this service. Morning worship wil! be at 11 a. m. and the pastor will speak on "Satan's Last Cause". The adult choir will be in charge of the music at this service. The M Y F will meet at 6:45 on Sunday evening instead of the usual hour of 7 o'clock. They vill have a snack supper as usual. At the 8 o'clock worship hour the pastor will speak on "Love Does Triumph".
