The Clay County picnic will ba held' at the If School. Friday July I All-day picnic* will bo held in each of the counties served by the Farmers Federation. Outstanding performers expected to be on the program are "Panhandle Pete", the One Man Band. Farmers Fed eration string band. Bed Raper and many other entertainers. Short talks will be given on farm practices, poultry, livestock, farm marketing and service pro grams sponsored by the Farmers Federation. Watermelon and lemonade will be furnished free by the federa tion and a lunch counter still be operated on the grounds for those who wish to buy their lunch. A special Invitation is given to any musician, singer, choir, or quartet, to participate on the pro gram and compete for prises. The grand prise of $100 is offered to the best number at the entire series of Farmers Federation pic nics this summer, with a second prise of $50 and a third prize of $25. " The Farmers Federation picnics provide an entire day of recrea tion for the farm families of each county. Miss Melba Wyke has returned from Fontana where she worked two weeks. Town Church with the Rev. T. D. Denny officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with I vie Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were, Arnold Du vall, Willard Duvall, Vinson Jones, Harley Jones, Frank Roper and Jud Roper. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Ethel Lovingood Duvll; two daughters, Joan and Janice, and one son, Paul all of the home; three brothers, Bruce of Franklin, Bass of Warne, and Ross Duvall of Robbinsville; two sisters, Miss Bertha Duvall of Robbinsville, and Mrs. Ola Roper of Topton. Pigs Delivered To (Young Pig Raisers I Cherokee County 4-H boys now have received their piss under the chain plan financed partly by the Murphy branch of Citizens Bank and Trust Company. Eighteen registered Yorkshire pigs were de livered by truck to the several boys, and they signed contracts i with the County Farm Agents to ' care for the pigs according to Extension recommendations and to pay back the sum of $20 one | year from the time they got the pigs. | Meanwhile, the boys get fret breeding service and get prize ' money at a county wide show this I fall. ' Boys receiving pigs under the chain plan this year are: Mack Clark and William Franklin, An jdrews; Donald Palmer and Clin-' ' ton Lovingood, Marble; William Bradshaw and L. C.
