paper, telling of an unusual
experience that he reeentl)>

It seems that the Superin
endent of Schools of Onslow
bounty was driving along the
lighway when a deer leaped
rom the side of the road di
rectly into the side of the ear.
The deer was killed. Not know
ng the law concerning such

refused. Puzxled, Hudson then
called the game warden who
told him to take the deer to a

Mrs. Glenn Bates, soloist, of
Murphy, sang a selection from
Mendelsohnn's "Messiah". She was
?ccompanied by Mrs. H. A. Van
Gorder.
The dining room was decorat
ed in traditional Christmas deco
rations. with crystal candelabra
holding red tapers centering the
tables. Under a Christinas tree
were placed toys by the club mem
bers to be distributed by the
Christinas Cheer Committee to
needy children.
Guests were, Mrs. Lester Reid,
of Whlbdey Island, Wash.; Mrs.
Charles Delaney, of Andrews;
Mrs T. A. Case, of Murphy; Mar
tha Caldwell, of Andrews; Mrs.
Anna Flecher. of Richmond, Ky;
and Mrs. Elton Bradley.
Hostesses were, Mrs. Edwin
Bristol, Mrs. Gordon Butler, Mrs.
L. B. Nichols, Mrs. Luke Ellis,
Mrs Louise Rogers, Mrs. C. H.
.'arrett and Mrs. Zeb Conley.
