The committee will seek further aid in this project from Town Council. Tentative plans were discussed for advertising places of interest and beauty in and around Mur phy to encourage the tourist grade. It was suggested tost this project be discussed with the Chamber of Commerce. Following the business session Mrs. W. H. McKeever gavo a brief sketch on the Salvation Army. Miss Elizabeth H. Campbell Folk School at 7:30 p. m Lonnie Powell, Recreation Spec ialist, State Recreation Commiss ion, Raleigh, will be in charge of the training school. The leaders selected to attend will come from the following groups; Recreation leaders from Home Demonstration Clubs, senior 4-H members, . Church leaders, Grange leaders and leaders from Community Developement Clubs. The same leaders are to attend each of the three sessions. Thls school offers an unusual op portunity for leaders to secure up to-date training in the field of Recreation. Dockery Is Conveyed To State Prison Noah E. Dockery. who last week was convicted on a 1st degree mur der charge In the shotgun death of Frank C- Crawford, was taken Sun day to the N. C. State penitentiary in Raleigh, from the Bryson City Jail. Dockery was sentenced to death in the gas chamber May 27. His trial is being appealed and his case has been prepared for review by the state Supreme Court at its Summer session. Area 8th Grades To Get Preview Of HS On Friday April 17 the Murphy High School Seniors will be hosts to the eighth grades from Mar tins Creek, Peachtree, Unaka, White Church, Ranger and Mur phy. This is to give students a pre view of the high school they will enter next fall. A full day of ac-| tivities is planned beginning with a chapel program, after which guides from the senior class will be on hand to show the students the buildings and classrooms.
