Young Harris Tells
Summer Schedule
Yourfg Harris College has an
nounced plans to offer night class
es of College instructions for any
one desiring to continue studies on
the Junior College level.
Course offerings announced by
College officials are to be Public
School Art, Human Biology, and
Principles of Accounting. By enroll
lng in the above three courses the
student will be able to complete
one quarter of college training.
Registration for night classes will
be held June 11 at 6:30 p. m. in the
Pruitt-Barrett Building. The sum
mer Quarter will end August 21.
Regular High School and College
course offerings will be available
to students desiring to enroll in
day classes. Registration for the
first session of Summer School
day clases will be held at 10:00 a.
m. June 11. with the term ending
July 16. The second session of day
classes will begin July 20, and end
August 21. The student may enroll
far as many as two courses in each
of the Summer School day ses
sions.
High School students registering
for the summer must have complet
ed at least 8 units of study before
becoming eligible for enrollment

NCEA Dinner Held
The Andrews N. C. E. A. held its
annual dinner meeting at Nanta
hala Inn, Friday evening May 8.
J. E. Rufty, Superintendent of
the Andrews City Schools, intro
duced the guest speaker for the
evening, Mrs. Lucille Allen, Legis
lature chairman of the Western
District of N. C. E. A. and presi
dent of the Hendersonville City
Unit.
Her topic was "The 1952 Legis
ative Program," which was a re
view of the actions of the state
legislature pertaining to schools.
She emphasized the importance
of the N. C. E. A. standing on a
united front with other interested
organizations and individuals in the
the interest of better schools for
the boys and girls of North Caro
lina.
The following officers were elec
ted for the coming year. Richard

Miss Smith, daughter of Mr. and
'Mrs. A. G. Smith, was the only
girl entered in the district project
and. was one of two Cherokee
County youths in the project Rob
ert Chapman of Martin's Creek was
also entered.
For the contest the youths were
required to mark trees for cutting
in a measured acre; have the trees
cut; sell the pulpwood and use the
remainder for fire wood.
Miss Smith also gave leaf print
ing demonstrations and marked
trees with a local forest ranger to
learn how to mark trees.
