The Cover property adjoins the
tannery at Andrews, and can be
purchased-wlth a 300 foot front
age (possibly 400) on the highway

by the Medical Care Commission,

The West property, Mr. Ferebee

would also be no protection to
prevent other buildings from being

sion centered on the Cover and
West sites.
School Bond Will Not Raise

Polling places for the special

been listed with the election date
set for October 2.
The bond looked sure to pass
this week after it was cleared up
that there will be no increase in
the tax rate to pay off the school
bond.

Bids will be opened immediately
after 2 p. m. September 10.
The single story building will be
erected between Thomas and Hil
ton Streets and will be a resident
type structure.
All floors will be covered with
asphalt tile and walls and ceilings
will be finished in plaster except
the rest rooms and janitor's clos
et. Those three rooms will be fin
ished In cement.
The new building will be heate<T
by electricity. Measurements of
the structure will be 88 feet, eight
inches by <3 feet, two inches.

lumberman and prominent resi
dent of Murphy, died at 9:30 a. m.
Friday, Aug. 27, in a local hospi
tal after a brief illness though he
had been in declining health for
several years. #
He was a native of Union County
Ga., son of Mrs. Wesley Christo
was a small boy.
He served for several years as
clerk of the town at Murphy and
was head of the Christopher Lum
ber Corporation ior a number of
years until his retirement due to HI
health.
Survivors include the mother;
one daughter, Mrs. Louise Schuy
ler; three sons, Jack ?f Knoxvllle,
Tenn., Harry of Atlanta, Oa. ,ted
Kenneth of MadiaonvUle, Ky.
Also 11 ? grandchildren; two
brothers, Fred O. Christopher of
Murphy and Spurgeon Christopher
