week's vacation in Florida and

the largest purchase of children's

Included in the books are sever
al of the Landmark, historical and
biographical series, a Lois Lenski
book, several books for very
young children and a number for
young teen agers.
' The new books will be available
for loan by tomorrow, Friday,

Adams Gets Life

Fred Adams last week received
a sentence of life Imprisonment in
connection with the Labor Day

ringer, 48, near Brasstown.
Adams was convicted of first de
gree murder by the jury from a
75 man special venire. The jury
recommended life Imprisonment.
Meanwhile some eight drunk
driving cases and 22 speeding
cases; one forgery and one as
sault with deadly weapon were dis
pensed with.
Bloodmobile Be
In Andrews Mon.:
Blood Supply Low
On Monday, Nov. 22. the Rer
Cross Bloodmobile will receive do
nations from noon until 5 p. m. at
the Andrews City Hall.
For the past two years Andrews
has not met its quota and the
blood supply is critically low, ac
cording to Mrs. S. J. Gemert, Red
Cross Chapter chairman.
The Lions Club will sponsor the
Bloodmobile visit and the Junior
Woman's Club will serve refresh
ments.
All eligible donors are requested
to come to the Bloodmobile Man
day at the City Hall, Andrews.

Garden Club Plans
Christmas Project
The Murphy Garden Club met
Thursday in the basement of the
Murphy Library for a workshop
and planning: meeting (or the
Club's Christmas project.
Mrs. Kiffin Craven and Mrs.
Bill Costello were hostesses.
Plans were laid for the Holiday
House and silver tea which the
club will sponsor in December.
Further plans for the tea will be
announced later according to
Mrs. S. C. Burgess, club president.
Mrs. Martha Dreher is chair
man of the Holiday House.
Children's Book Week
Observed In Andrews
Annual "Childrens Book Week"
is being observed at the Andrews
Carnegie Library this week.
On Monday evening at 7:S0 a
film " A Little Child's Introduc
tion to the Library" was shown.
Volunteer workers assist each
morning in familiarizing various
groups of school children from the
primary department of the school
with the facilities of the library,

ticket. On Saturday the grand
prize will be $250 cash.
Murphy Trade Week will start
with a Santa Claus parade Mon
day, Nov. 29. The parade will
start at 1:30 p. m.

All clubs, schools and civic or
ganizations are invited to enter
floats in the parade.
The Murphy School Band has
been Invited to play for the parade
and other schools in the area will
be asked to send bands.

But it is expected that he will re
main In Murphy area to visit with
children and hand out candy.
