Charles O Frailer, principal of
the Andrews Elementary school,
presented a program on safety at
tha meeting ol the Parana Teach
ers association held at the school
last week.
Mr. Frailer snowed three films
on safety in the home, at the -
school, and on the street, giving
pertinent facts concerning h maris
encountered by the children.

dents of the local association. The

A special feature of the program

The Initial meeting of a reading
study for Murphy and Andrews
unit teachers was held last Tues
day in the primary school audltor
lum here. Teachers from the Cher
okee County unit were also Invit
ed to taket part.
With the topic, "Reading, A To
tal School Problem", the study was
led by Mrs. Clair Olson, supervis
or for the Murphy and Andrews
Units, with the cooperation of Sup
erintendents H. Bueck, Llovd Hen

Sick In Andrews
Mrs. Cordle Freeman is improv
ing nicely after being confined to
her home for several weeks due to
illness. She is expected to return
to church soon. It was reported
that Mrs. Freeman misses being at
church.

Mrs. Curtis Dies
Near Hayesville
Mrs. Frank Curtis, 78, died at S
p. m. Wednesday, Feb. 1(. in the
home of a son, John near Hayes
ville after a long illness.
Funeral services were held at
the Sweetwater Baptist Church at
10 a. m. Friday. Burial waa in the
church cemetery.
Surviving are tour daughters,
Mrs. Avery Scroogs, Mrs. Clyde
Curtis and Mrs. Zella Coffey at
Hayesville, and Mrs. Glenn Ras
ter of Morganton; five sons, Fred
John, Tillman, Charles and (Man
of Hayesville; M grandchildren;
23 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
She was a native and lifelong
