EASTER WEEK ON
THE FARM
The early Christiana used'
many things from the (arm to
remind them of Easter, because,
first of all, the farm is filled
with all kinds of life. And|
Easter and life ? the new
life, the Life of Christ ? go|
hand in hand.
Let us just take- a quick look
around the farm to see Easter
at its 6est. The Easter egg is
the most common reminder we
have of Easter. The unhatched
chick turned the early Christian
mind to Christ, in the tomb. And
the breaking of the shell as the
chick breathes air for the first
time, is a sign of the resurrec
tion of Christ as He came from
the tomb. (Moat city people
lever catch a glimpse of newly
latched chicks) The Easter egg
then, cannot have its full mean
ing with them.
Isaias speaks of Christ as
the lamb led to the slaughter
(5,7). Paul speaks of Christ as
the Paschal lamb? the Easter]
lamb, who rose from the dead.
(City people only see dead lamb]
cut up in small pieces.)
It Is still time for fires
keep the house warm. The early!
Christians pictured Christ as
the light of the wolrd ? a flame
shining out In the darkness of
the night. So the warm glow of
fires can remind us of the Risen
Christ. ,
Water, too, reminded Chrts
resur-.
