H U.< villa Baptist Church, met Thurs day evening, at the home of Mr*. Christine Corpening, with following member* present : Mr*. Hildred Millsape, Mrs. Arthur Ford, Mrs. Ma* Gates, Mr*. Lolah Colvard, Mrs. Ruth Orr, Mr*. Mabel Orr, Mr*. Edna Snider, Mr*. Gladys Jordan, Mrs. Mamie Car penter Mrs. Nina Huffman Mrs, Tommie Wilson, Mrs. Mabel Hoop er, Mrs. Christine Corpening and one visitor, the Associations! Mis sionary, Miss Ima Starnes. Mrs. Mae Gates, program chair man, presented a program, with Mrs. Ford giving the devotional, ' and Miss Starnes, discussing the topic tor the month, which was the "Baptist work in Hong Kong." Circle Chairman, ? Mrs. Nina Huffman, presided during the busi- , ness session, at which time plans | were made tor representatives to attend the Associations! Meeting In Bryson City, on April 28th. During the social hour refresh ments were served by the hostess, Mrs. Corpening. Jr.-Sr. Has Pioneer Theme The Robblnsville Junior? Senior Banquet was held on Thursday night, April 21, with 180 persons present. A pioneer theme was used. In >ne corner was an old cradle and ' a wooden churn. Tn another, an old , spinning wheel. In still another was an old organ on which Gonana Oolvard played "Always". Oilcloth covered the tables and kerosone lamps furnished the light. Antique honey dishes, pickle dishes, spoon holders, and salt wells were used on the tables. Fly brushes were dis played on the walls. Ten sophomore girls served as waitresses. After dining the following pro gram was presented : Toast to Sen iors, Newell Ledbetter; Response, Leota Wilcox; Toast to Faculty, Bobby Howell; RespSfise, Joe Wig gins: Special Music, Gonana Ool vard: Toast to Athletes, Gladys Long; Response, Dale Irons; Class Prophecy. Jane Gregory; and Last Will and Testament, Lavina Lovin. After the banquet the Agayah Club gave a social for the Juniors, seniors, and their guests. The Agayah Club members Mrs. Warren Humes, Mrs. W. F. i Flake, Mrs. Robert Holland and | Mrs. H. J. Cherry decorated the gymnasium in rainbow colors and , Punch and nuts were served to with dogwood and azaleas, the approximately one hundred guestJ. School Board Will Elect Supt. May 9 The Graham County coard of Education will meet la a special session May 9 to elect a superin tendent of county schools. In otner action in recem meet ings the board re-elected Mrs. Glad ys Jordan as secretary to the coun ty superintendent for two years and re-elected R. G. Orr as super visor for the 1955-58. HONOR STUDENTS The Robbins ville High School honor students have been announ ced by school officials. They are salutatorian, Anne Costner, daugh ter of Mrs. Mildred C. Names Committees j Graham County's new school board went Into office April 6 with Wayne Marcus as chairman Harry Owens and Dr. Nettie Par 1 rette are also on the board. At their second meeting, April 7, the new board appointed the following school committees whose jmain job is to name teachers and principals, subject to the board of ' education. Billy Graham, nation jally known evangelist and produc er of the world's first Christian : western film, "Mr. Texas" will be seen in another Christian film, "Oiltown U. S. A. to be presented at the Fontana Community Church Sunday, May 1, 7:30 p. m. Graham's film features the evan gelist and members of his team in their city-wide evangelistic cru sade In Houston Texas. Highlighting the film are scenes from his meeting at Rice Stadium wher 60,000 gathered to hear Gra ham for one of the largest evange listic meetings in American his tory. Clem's office in Robbinsviile, May S, Gilmer Har rill, architect-engineer for the pro I ject, said. The new school will contain four primary rooms, three elementary rooms, one multi-purpose room that can be divided into two class rooms, and administration offices.
