Van 4 Gorder entertained the Andrew* ' Lions Club at their home in Valley- 1 town Thursday evening, the regu | lar club meeting night. Prior to the program a charcoal grilled steak dinner was served from tables in the outdoor living area of the Van Gorder home. The home affords a panoramic view of the valley and mountain ranges. Mrs. V&a Gorder .vas ai listed in serving by "Aunt Nelle", aunt of Dr. Van Gorder. A major feature of the program were short talks by the special guests who were introduced by the host. They were: Walter E. Head ley chief of police of Miami, Fla.; George Ragsdale of Miami, Fla; i Steve Crawford of Murphy; C. L. Johnson and Billy Teas, newly elected coach of Andrews High ] School. John R. L?ach, 85, a native of Graham County,' and wife of tha late Jonh R. Leach, died Sunday tn Alexandria, Va., following a brief illneaa. She waa the former MIsj Kathar ine Hampton, daughter of the late Wade and Sallle McElroy Hampton of Robbinaville. She was a member of Andrews Methodist Church, where she resided until the death of her husband in IMS. . Funeral services were held Tues day at 3 p. m. at the Franklin Pres byterian Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. B. W. Rising of Winter Park, Fla. the former Miss Sallle Sue Leach; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
