Misenheimer i will be the mlssioner for the Luth eran Evangelism Mission to be held at St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Andrews November 11 ? 15. The Rev. Vi tolds Gobins, Pastor of St. And .?ew's will be the liturgist. The Mission services will begin with the 11 o'clock Service on Sun day. Evening services will be held [every night Sunday through Thurs- j day at 8.00 p. m. Pastor Misen heimer has announced that the theme for his services of sermons will be ? "GOD WANTS YOU". The individual sermon topics are listed as follows : Sunday Morning, Nov. 11 ? "God Wants You to Walk with Him", Sunday Evening, Nov. 11 ? "God Wants You to be His Parade Ground" Monday evening, Nov. 12 "God Wants You to be a Faithful Steward", Tuesday evening, Nov. 13 ? The Rev. Dr. P. L. Conrad. H eis the first to serve the Synod in this capacity. Pastor Misenheimer received his A. B. degree from Lenoir Rhyne College, Hickory, N. C. and B. D. degree from the Lutheran Theolo gical Southern Seminary, Colum bia, S. C. Before he assumed his present responsibilities Pastor Misenheimer has served in the fol lowing parishes; St. John's Salis bury; St. James and Emanuel, Rockwell; St. Mark's, Mooresville land Center Grove, Kannapolis. At present time Pastor and Mrs. Misenheimer and their 4 sons arc residing in Salisbury. The preparations for the Mission Week at St. Andrew's are being completed under the leadership of the congregational evangelism committee consisting' of Marioi E. Ennis adn L. M. Gilbertson Co-chairmen; Dr. L. L. ICzzell - Prayer; Miss Frances Cover - Lay Visits; Mrs. James Baer - Pub licity; Mrs. Marion E. Ennis - Hospitality; Herman K. Brauer ? Music; Mrs. Vitolds Gobins - Tel ephone and Mrs. Margaret C. Wat ry ? Finance. In connection with the Lutheran Evangelism Week lay visitors of St. Andrews, in pairs, will make calls at homes of Lutheran Church members and persons interested in th Lutheran Church to encourage to make Christ the most important part of their lives. The calls on prospective Church members will be made between 7 and 8 P. M. Monday through Thursday. Follow ing the Mission Week a. pastor's Class will be held for the prospect ive members with the first session being held on Sunday, November 18, at 7:00 P. M. Th purpose of the mission is to help every Church member realize that his primary responsibility if to be a witness for Christ, and that therefore each member is a home missionary. The Church also seeks to reclaim and reactivate the lapsed and inactive members and to con front the unchurched in our com munity with an invitation to unite with the Church and to worship Christ. Visitors will be welcome at all the Mission Week services and are urged to take active part in them. IV. C. Crop Sunday Be November 11 November 11th is CROP Sunday ? in North Carolina, beginning the eighth annual week of united effort by town and country churches to combat the world's food shortage. Pastors will participate and expla in the work of the Christain Rural Overseas Program of Church Wor ld Service to their congregations. During the days following volum teers will go from farm to farm and and from house to house seeking gifts of food, fiber, and cash to fight hunger and distress through out the world. Thirty North Car olina counties are expected to con duct organized campaigns and most , of the others will participate in various ways Among the commodities to b? solicited are wheat, corn, cotton peanuts, and milo. A bale of cotton ir a carload of grain may be ex ported from the county providing it. Smaller units will be converted into cash and to gether with the cash donations used to provide costs of distributing overseas cer tain surplus foods released free by the United States government, rhe cost of distributing surplus vheat. corn, rice, beans, and dairy products is estimated at less than one cent a pound. Crops appeal will be held for the benefit of the neediest among India's 45 million flood victims, Pakistan's flood stricken. Hong cong's 1,500,000 Chinese refugees, war orphans and other destitute in ?orea, one million displaced Arabs 'efugees in Turkey, Greece, Italy, I Germany, And Austria, and the vie- i tims of natural and manmade dis asters in other countries of Asia, Europe, and South America. Three hundred million pounds of food and fiber have been distributed amoung the distitute of 50 countries since , 1945. Rev. Elmer Hassell To Speak At District Workshop The Rev. Elmer Hassell, who is chairman of Virginia Conference Board of Temperance, will be the featured speaker at the Waynes ville District Temperance Work s?"wi ?n held at the Sylva Meth odist Church on Friday evening, November 9th, at ? :30 P.
