Hot Springs Lions Qub Gets New Charter Friday District 31 -A Lions Club officials participated in the Charter Night program for the newly-organized Hot Springs Lion* Club in Madison County, Friday night, April 26, in the Hot Springs High School cafe teria. Among WNC Lions Club officials invited to participate included R. W. Easley, Jr., of Murphy, deputy district governor of Region 1; and W. Mike Prown of Robbinsville, Zone 1 chairman. The Marshall Lions Club spon sored the Hot Springs Club, the 36th to be organized in District 31 A which comprises some 1,600 members in twelve western moun tain counties. Governor W. E. The body was taken to Ivie Fun eral Home in Hayesville Saturday and remained till the hour of ser vices. T. S. JSimomis T. S. Simonds, 89, died Tuesday, April 23, at the home of a daugh ter, Mrs. A. L. Denton with whom he made his home in Cleveland, Tenn. after several weeks illness. He was a native of Cherokee County, a son of the late Joe and Mary Bell Simonds a pioneer fam ily of the Wolf Creek section of the County. He had been a mem ber of the Baptist Church more than 60 years. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Sunday in Macedonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Freed Townsend and the Rev. Ben Liner officiated and burial was in the church cem etery, with graveside rites by Sweetgum Masonic Lodge. In addition to Mrs. Denton, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Edna S. Standridge of Akron, Ohio and a son, Earl, known to his friends as Ross, of Baltimore, Md. and 14 grandchildren.
