Lester Stowe at his home in Peaehtree. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson of Aquone, and Mr. Stiles is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stiles of Peach tree. The bride was dressed in a biege suit with black accessories. Those attending the wedding were the bride's mother, Mrs. Carl Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Yonce. and children, Mrs. Ab Gentry and Mrs. Warren Mack. Frank Brown of Bos sier, La., former pastor of the Mur phy Presbyterian Church with Mrs. Brown and baby Sabring, visited friends and former church mem bers in Murphy last week en route to Montreat. Mr. Brown spent two years in Edinburgh, Scotland on a scholarship to the University of Edinburgh. They have been back in Louisiana about a year. Mrs. J. N. Moody left Sunday for Tampa, Fla. after a visit of sever al weeks here with her son, How ard, Mrs. Moody and Jo Jo. How ard took her to Athens, Ga. where she was met by her daughter, Mrs. A. C. Nolan and Mr. Nolan, who took her with them to their home in Savannah, Ga. for a visit with them before flying from there to Tampa. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Thompson and sons, Bill and Boyd, of Atlan ta, visited Dr. Thompsn's mother, Mrs. J. W. Thompson, over the week-end. Thompson last week. , Mrs. Ruby Hill, Mrs. Ottillie de Calongne, and Misses Sue and Louise Haigler of Hayesville have returned from a Grayhound bus escorted trip out of Atlanta an a seven day tour for New York City. The only time they left the bus was in Washington, D. C. on their way home. Mrs. Hill said she had been on many bus tours but this was the most wonderful of them all. Mrs. George P, Powell and child ren, George Parker and Susan of Charlotte and Mrs. Paul Schofield of Statesville, attended the funeral last week of their uncle, Pearley Paschal Hughes. Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson had as guests Sunday, Mrs. Thomp son's mother, Mrs. F. P. Galloway and her brother Wayne Galloway, Mrs. Galloway and family of Hia wassee, Ga. Dr. and Mrs. George Dyer spent the week end in Asheville and Hen dersonville visiting relatives. Mrs. Dyer's uncle W. C. Ashworth of Asheville returned with them and is spending the week here. Glenn Williams of Canton, became the bride of Harold Courtney Hollified, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Hollifield of Charlotte, in a candlelight cere mony August 3, at "Glenelles", home of the bride's parents on Pisgah Drive. The bride is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. .Stiles of Mur phy. The Rev. J. Clayton Lime, pas tor of .the First Presbyterian Church, performed the double ring ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Matthews of Canton presented the wedding music. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a ballerina length gown of white lace with a match ing jacket. The bouffant skirt was fashioned with tiers of scalloped lace ruffles. Her veil of illusion was attached to a tiara of seed pearls and rhinestones. She car ried a white Bible topped with a white orchid and showered with fleuor d' amour. Mrs. Joe Dale McCracken of Cullowhee, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Her gown of cornflower blue Chantilly lace was designed with a scalloped sabrina neckline and full skirt. Her blue velvet headdress held a small veil studded with rhinestones. Her flowers were a cascade of pink car nations. C. B. Hollifield served as his son's best man. Honorary attendants were Miss Carol Nanney, Mrs. James Lewis, Mrs. Williams Churm, Miss Adrien ne Smathers, Mrs. William Mc Elrath, Miss Priscilla Hamrick and Mrs. James Davis. A color motif of pink and green was used in the decorations. The table spread' with an imported cut work cloth was centered with the punch bowl, flanked by five branched candelabra holding gleaming pink and green candles, with ivy trailing over the table. On the gift table was a cut glass bowl holding pink and white carna tions and a miniature bride and groom, and a guest book. About 40 guests attended.
