Here are tome tips in planning
color schemes that will bear study
In these lew paragraphs we deal
in rather general recommendations
to their specific situation.
A feeling of rest, or balance, is
the first requirement of lovely
color schemes. The larger the area
of color used the quieter the effect
should be, while the smaller the
area the more sharp the contrast
may be in intensity, value and
hue.
Color has both weight and pro
portion. Color has three qualities,
namely:
1. Hue (or name of the color)?
having warmth or coolness
2. Value ? the degree of light
ness or darkness of a color.
3- Intensity ? the degree of
brightness or dullness of a color.
There are three fundamental
or primary colors ? red, yellow
and blue. All other colors are de
rived by mixing these colors in
varying ampunts
Colors may be classified into
two groups ? warm and cool.
Warm colors are cheerful and
stimulating while cool colors are
calm and restful

Pie-Eating
Pleasure
"HEY GANG . . . COME ON OVER TO MY HOUSE! Mom's got
Chocolate Cream Pie waiting for us!" Your popularity rating will
soar when you keep a good supply of Simple Simon Frozen Cream
Pies on hand for your childrm and their friends. This is easy
to do, too, since all the work of making a perfect crust and filling
has, been done for you by expert bakers. Simply take a pie from
the freezer, let it defrost 45 minutes (less if the weather's warm)
at room temperature or about 3 hours in the refrigerator, and it's
ready to serve. On warm days these pies make a cooling treat
served only partially defrosted.
You can depend on each pie to have a crust that's tender,
flaky and golden brown and a filling that's creamy, smooth and
delicious ... a combination that makes for pure pie-eating
pleasure. Pick your flavor favorites . . . chocolate, lemon, coconut
j or strawberry . . . from your grocer's frozen food cabinet. Each
j pie weighs one pound and measures 8 inches in diameter . . .
I plenty for 6 good-to-eat servings.

If one is inexperienced in comb
ing colors perhaps the safest color
scheme should include two colors
one warm and the other cool with
one color predominating. A safe
formula to remember are these
proportions: predominating color
used in about 60 per cent of area,
the subordinate color in 30 per
cent and the remaining 10 per
cent used for accent.
To guide one In deciding which
color should predominate the ex
posure of the room should be con
sidered. Use the cool colors in
greater amounts for rooms with
afternoon light; consequently on
the opposite side of the house use
warm colors as dominant and
subordinate cool colors. The same
color scheme should be used
throughout the house so as to
achieve unity.
If the dining room or family
room opens directly off the living
room a feeling of spaciousness
may be'created by using the same
color scheme.

making available "wash racks".
Throughout the day a constant

Seniors praised Clarence HPg

KEEP UP THE COOP WORK!
AGAIN AND AGAIN, industrial newcomers
* to the Southland tell us how pleased they
are with their first manufacturing plant in the
South. There are many reasons for this. But rigLt
up on top of the list is the fact that they've found
the men and women in industry here to be willing,
dependable workers-easily trained and eager to'
give a full day's work for a fair day's pay.
In times of lessened business activity everywhere,
this willingness to work is more important than
ever before, both for Southland industry and for
its workers. It helps management keep production
cost per unit down, so that the finished product
can be priced to sell in today's highly competitive
markets. And this, in turn, makes jobs for workers.
A good supply of good workers has alwayB been
one of the Southland's greatest drawing cards. It
brings new, job-providing manufacturing plants
to the South ? and keeps them busy after they
get here. Now in particular it benefits everyone
in the Southland to "keep up the good work" ?
and keep it that way!
