Gulledge, Culberson Route 1, has been select ed from the 4-H'ers in Cherokee County to attend 4-H Forestry Camp, June 2-7 at 4-H Camp Mill stone near Ellerbe, N. C. Billy was chosen from the large group of 4-H'ers interested in forestry in this county. He was selected on the basis of his leadership abilities and interest in forestry. Although Billy has done much in promoting forestry as well as 4-H Club work in general, we feel that he will wok even hader with his added knowledge gained from having attended 4-H Forestry Camp. She is now in the Piedmont Hos pital in Atlanta and her condition is reported as good Miss Pegues is a language teach er at Murphy High School and was recently named winner of the District 1 Oscar for teachers. 24 Piano Pupils Enter Contest ANDREWS ? Twenty-foi'r piano pupils of Mrs. J. C- Carrier en tered the 17th annual National Piano Audition under the sponsor ship of the National Guild of Piano Teachers held in Asheville last Friday. Thirteen pupils who received National certificates are: Betsy Battle, Mary Jo Battle, Reuben Brian Battle, Joyce Ann Bradley, Phillip Brauer, Linda Carringer, William Christmas, Connie Sue Garrett, Ann Pullium, Brenda Stover, Martha Ulm, Donald Wat son and Truett West. Winning state awards were: Scotty Calhoun, Darlene Creas man, Joyce Lynn Mulkey, De Etta Watson, Barbara Ann Watry. Dis trict awards: Joy Bristol, Nettie Sue Ulm, Terry Gibson and Don na Sue Fuller. Local awards were: Janet Bur nett and Diane Watson. Winners in the various categor ies were presented a certificate, a gold or bronze embossed pin, and a year's membership in the Na tional Fraternity of Student Musi cians. Talent Show Is Big Success ANDREWS? The Talent Show sponsored by the Konnaheeta club Friday night to a capacity aud ience proved a big success with approximately $185 realized from the benefit, Mrs- Ruth S. Pullium, president announced. Individual and group cash prizes were awarded to the following: 6 to 8 year group, Lu Ann Long and Susan Ulm, a duet; and to Mrs. Reichman's ballet group, composed of Lindia ChancLvr Gail Jodan, Suzanne Van Gorder, Susan Rodda, Stacy Kivel, Barbara Smith and Ellen Nave of Murphy. In the 11-15 age group cash prizes were awarded to: Murphy sixth grade square dance team and to Donna Sue Fuller and Ed win Barlowe, who tied for solo parts.
