Vest. 30-n; and Walker School House. 48 5 Murphy, Andrews Swimming Pools Open Summer Season This Week This week marks the long await ed opening of swimming pools in Murphy and Andrews for Ihe sum mer season Murphy's pool opened Sunday with a crowd of swimmers and sun bathers estimated at 200 And rews' pool is scheduled to open Saturday. John Jordan, director of Mur phy's recreation program, and Chuck McConnell, assistant direc tor, will be in charge of opera tions at the Murphy pool assisted by Gordon Bates and W. G. Isley. Dean Truett a graduate of West ern Carolina College this year, and David Hogsed, student at Western Carolina, will run the pool at Andrews Both young men live in Andrews Murphy's recreation program in cludes the operation of the Kiddie Park which is supervised by Miss Carolyn Bates of Murphy The Murphy pool features a new high diving board and a new paint job this summer. A wading pool for the smaller children should be ready within two weeks The Murphy pool will charge an admission of 15 cent for children under 12 and 35 cents for adults. Swimming lessons will be given from 10 to 12 in the mornings, and the pool will open to the publu from 12 until the crowil leaves Sunday hours arc 1 to ti p m Season tickets are available for Murphy's pool Children's tickets are $8, adult tickets $12 50 and family tickets $25 The swimming lessons at the Murphy pool will be availabe to anyone in the county or area. Only charges for the lessons will be regular admission to the pool and a $2 registration fee The students j may continue i h<- le---oin a- Imia i as they wish. lh>urs and rates for the Andrews pools have nol y t-l been announced but will be similar to those of the Murphy pool. Both these pool will be available for rental for private parties at night.
