The FomfiY THE POWER OF A PERSEVERING PRAYER Luke 18:! “And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray and not to faint." I have heard it said that we should pray and I heard it said that some were led to pray, but Jesus said that we faint not. But we ought to always pray, not at bed times or in the morning, but we should always pray. Some will say will 1 prayed and that and I don’t need to pray any more for that. If nothing happens, then I will bear it alone. When this comes to your mind you should resist and rebuke doubt. Not lose heart, but resist all opposition, fear, unbelief, discouragement. We should not use any excuse for unbelief when our prayers are not answered immediately. It is a divine blood bought right to get an answer. So, we should not lose heart. The only reason I know why a prayer should go unanswered is stated in verse 9: “Certain people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others. If you don’t love your neighbor as thyself, and if you don’t love Jesus with all your heart, soul and mind, then your answer will not come. Neither will your prayer be answered- Jesus Christ is a prayer answerer. He will hear and deliver his people. Now read verse 2 where Christ said there was a city, a Judge which fear neither God nor man and there was a widow in that city also and she came to him and said “Avenge me of mine adversary.” Verse 3. And He would not for a while. But after wards he said within himself, “though I fear not God. nor regard man, yet because this woman troubles me I will avenge her. This woman came to the world begging help, asking Justice to be done unto her. But I hear Paul say in Romans !2:19 “Vengence is mine; I will repay saith the Lord.” But this woman had doubt and unbelief towards God and she turned to man and man said because she troubleth me I will avenge her for she continues coming. She makes me weary said the judge. She has repeated attacks. She has worn me out. I am helpless. No wonder the judge with his hard heart became willing to see that she got Justice. Jesus went on to tell of two men, a Pharisee and a Publican and he told about when they went up to pray in the temple the Pharisee stood and prayed and said that he was glad that he was not like the unjust, adulturers, extortionists. He said I fast twice a week. I even pay my tithes. Let me tel! you. we have people today who fast and pay tithes, but it is done in vain. They think it gives them the right to judge or teach or tell someone how to live or dress but it is in vain. These things will not save a person and it does not make you better than others. Jesus said the one who said Lord, be merciful to me, this is the one who went home to be with Jesus. This is the kind whose prayers are answered. Not those who think because they are paid up, fed up and got the preacher on their side and the unjust judges of this world. He who is merciful and who is not ashamed to be called a brother in Christ. We need to examine ourselves Paul said in II Cor. 13:5 that we should to see whether you are in the faith or not. prove yourselves, be as the widow. She got results from the world from ah infidel of utter selfishness and unconcern for the needs of the people. A person who said he did not fear God. How much more we can get from a just God. Like the Publican who in just a short time said the right words and went home justified because Jesus has the authority to justify us for it was his blood that has the atoning power to wash away sin and to make you become as children which you should be. Jesus said unless you and I become as such you shall in no way enter in his kingdon. If you are rich, go and see and follow him that we might have life but always remember that we ought to always pray that we faint not in doing so. We shall see the salvation of Jesus. Thursdoy, May . I believe in prayer. 1 believe God answers prayer. But I believe also one must believe that Jesus is sufficient for all needs, that he is has no respect of persons. What he has done for others he will do for you. As the song was once sung, “With arms wide open, he’ll pardon you.” David said he would brake the bond of sickness that man would praise the Lord, even in the shadow of death and while they sit in darkness Jesus believed them out of them all. Oh, that man would praise the Lord. David knew what it was to be delivered. David knew also that there was death which was only a step away, yet David could say, “Hear my prayers, O Lord. And let my prayer and cry come unto thee." Ps. 102;!. If you now have a sickness or burden by the loss of a loved one, or if you have children who are lost in sin, do as the woman who went to the judge for vengence and because of such trouble to the judge he had compassion for her. Now Jesus is the same, only he is perfect and long suffering that no man should perish but have life. Whatever it may be. Jesus is yours to claim for whatever the need may be. He is a wonder worker. “Thou shalt call and I will answer." Job !5:!5. You now have his word, believe and receive in his name. Don’t give up. But keep on asking Jesus for help. If your enemies are about to overtake you give them to Jesus he alone can fight your battle for he has never lost a battle. David said, when false friends had overwhelmed him and hated him. God would not suffer the righteous to be moved. Today make your stand in Jesus and prayer. HAIL CAN DAMAGE YOUR CROP We hove Hoi! Insure, ice Come see us for all your insurance needs •Auto •Life O. Hear what the unjust judge saith. “And shall not God avenge his own elect which cry day and night unto him though he bear long with them?’’ When do we quit praying? Never, though he be long we believe Jesus will hear our prayers for we pray day and night. Jesus said, “I tell you, I will avenge them speedily.” Verse 8. But we should never trust ourselves. We are told to lean on Jesus. We are to cast all our cares on Jesus for he cares for you and I.
