Mr. and Mrs. John B. Locklear and family of Ml. Clemmcns. Mich, arc on vacation and are spending this week visiting in the home of Mr, Locklear's mother, Mrs, Susie A. LiKkIear of Route I. Rowland, and Mr. LiKklear's sister and her family. Rev. and Mrs. Harvey Lowry, also of Route I. Rowland, and Mrs. Locklear's parents. Mr. and Mrs, Eutin Wilkins of Shannon. Upon leaving from here the Locklear family will take a tour of the North Carolina mountains before returning to their Michigan home. Mr. D.E. Lowry. 95, fell and fractured his hip at Green Manor Rest Home in Parkton where he is now making his home. Mr. Lowry was carried by ambulance to Southeastern General Hospital where he underwent surgery on his hip. Mr. ami Mrs. Lonnie Revels were visited during the Fourth of July Holiday by their children and their families. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Winfree ami children, Loria and Bob. and Mrs. Neill Hartis and daughter, Ramona, of Chariolto, and Mr. and Mrs. William L. Revels and daughter. Jennifer, of Greensboro. They came especially at this time and attended the Lumbee Homecoming events. OBITUARIES Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Cox of Bennettsville, SC visited for a few days in the home of Mrs. Cox’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Lowry of Barker Street. Ir. and Mrs. Tommie Dial of Kimore, Md. visited with aiives and friends over the liday weekend. Ir. and Mrs. Robert B. Revels J family of Florida spent some e visiting in the home of his *nis. Mr. and Mrs. Carl vels. Irs, Henry F. Smith and lehier Leslie spent dnesday visiting in the home ir. and Mrs. Benford Hardin family of Fayetteville. Mr, and Mrs. T.B. Brayboy were visited for a long weekend by their children and their families. Dr. and Mrs. Bobby Brayboy and children of Monrovia. Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Tim Brayboy and daughter of Cary; Mr, and Mrs. Tecumseh Brayboy III and daughter of Warrenton, NC; Mr. and Mrs. John Groggof Columbia. SC and their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Sarrells and son Chip of Georgia; and Mr. and Mrs, William Haraway of Rockville. Md. This was the first time in three years the family had all been at home together. There was a lot of picture taking and catching up on family events that had taken place during the past three years. Mrs. Jerry Lowry and children spent a week visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Perry C. Lowry of Kensington. Md. Mr. Jerry Lowry Lowry went by plane to Maryland where he pmed his family for a weekend before accompanying them home the first part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Strickland and family of Alexandria. Va. are spending their summer vacation visiting in the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Strickland, A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Strickland, Mr, and Mrs. Donald Brown and family of Largo, Florida, are expected to arrive here this weekend for a visit with the Strickland family. Mr. and Mrs. Al Mangum of Raleigh visited the past week in the homes of Mrs. Mangum’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Oxendine and his brother. Rev. and Mrs. Roliert L. Mangum and family of Lumberton. Mr. and Mrs. Pete .Young and Mr. and Mrs. James Strickland of Charlotte visited during the Holidays at Myrtle Beach, SC. Mr. Harvey Lowry, Jr., son of Rev. and Mrs. Harvey Lowry of Route 1, Rowland, fell while playing softball at the Lowry Ball Park near Pembroke and broke the talus bone. After receiving medical treatment at Southeastern General Hospital of Lumberton. he was able to return home and is able to walk some with the aid of his crutches. Betty S. Wester, Mrs. Barton. Mrs. Susie A. Locklear of Route I. Rowland and other relatives. Cora Macy Jones lerwent surgery Tuesday at Southeastern General ipilal of Lumberton. She had left leg amputated. Mrs. les was visited by several Hives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. George Chavis. Jr. of Royal Oak, Mich, spent part of their Summer vacation visiting at Myrtle Beach. SC. Hocklear spent their vacation visiting in Orlando, Florida and also spent some time visiting at Disney World. Mr. and Mrs. Hocker were joined in Florida by a daughter of Mr. Hocker’s, Mr, and Mrs. Jimmy Farrell of Buda, Texas and a grandson of Mrs. Hocker’s, Benjamin F. Locklear. The Hockers were accompanied to North Carolina by the Farrells and Benjamin where they spent some time in the Hocker home. Mr. and Mrs. Fanell have returned to their Texas home. Benjamin extended his visit for several weeks. His mother, Mrs. JoAnn Locklear, is scheduled to arrive Friday at the Municipal Airport of Fayetteville and will be met by Mr. and Mrs. Hocker. Mrs. Hocker is her mother-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. William Hall of Michigan spent some time visiting in the home of her parents, Mr. anu Mrs. Hartman Hammonds and sister and her family. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Locklear, Jr. of Lumberton. They also visited with Mrs. Hall’s aunts. Mrs. Harry West Locklear and Mrs.. Lela Brooks Locklear, and her cousin, Mr, and Mrs. John H. .Sampson. LUDAHLIA AMMONS SOPHRONIA HOLMES Mrs. Ludahlia W. Ammonds, 63, of Route 4, Lumberton died Monday in the North Carolina Cancer Institute. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m, today at Mt. Olice Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev, Timothy Creel, the Rev. Steve Locklear and the Rev, Charles W. Oxendine will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oxendine Cemetery, Sophronia Holmes, 66. died Friday. Funeral services were held Sunday al 5 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pembroke with the Rev. Chesley Hammond and the Rev. Timothy Creel officiating. Burial folllowed in Lumbee Memorial Gardens. Dr. and Mrs. William AthaofRome, Ga. They went at this time to help take care of the Atha family and home while Mrs. Atha was hospitalized. Before returning home with her new baby son. Joshua Brooks Atha. Rebecca, a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Atha, returned home with her aunt and will spend the summer with the Mercer family and her grandmother. Mrs. Lela Brooks Locklear. Most recently Dr. Meza was one of several U.S. pastors and theoiouians to tour Cuba. He is the author of The Cross. The Kiss. And The Tomb, and To Serve The Present Aize. Survivors include her husband, Delbert Ammons; two sons, Kirby Ammons of Lumberton and David Ammons of Morganton; two brothers, Henry Wilkins of Lumberton and Alton Wilkins of Pembroke; six sisters, Mmes, Zoral Wilkins of Lumberton, Mary Walker and Myrtle Fairdolh, both of Clinton; Cassie Kovalsky of Charleston, SC; Sally Stewart of Colorado Springs, Colo,; and Lucy Bell Brooks of Pembroke; and seven grandchildren. Survivors include: her husband, Grady Holmes; five sons, Leo Holmes of San Diego, Cal.; Craven and Max of Newark, Del.; Billy of Randleston, Md.; and Elmer of Lumberton; one daughter, Mrs. Frances H. Bullard of Lumberton; three brothers, John H. Sampson, Charlie Sampson and Raeford Sampson, all of Pembroke; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Sampson of Lumberton; Mrs. Mary D. Maynorand ^rs. Wilma Graham, noth of Pembroke; and eight grandchildren. CLARENCE LOCKLEARJR Mr. Robinson has recently moved to Pembroke with his wife. Helen, from Washington, DC where he organized and directed the Pilgrimage Hostel Program,a short term residential study iTogramfor visitors in the nation’s caiiital. But I am eager to work in other areas of concern also.” RUBY C. DIAL Mrs, Ruby C. Dial, 64, of Pembroke died Monday, July 4, at her home in Pembroke following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 6 at Locklear and Son Funeral Chapel with Rev, Harvey l^wry and Rev, Jerry J. Juren officiating. Burial followed in Lumbee Memorial Gardens. Clarence Locklear, Jr, 24, died Friday. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Island Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. C.M. Cummings officiating, Burial followed in the church cemetery. Survivors include: three brothers, Roosevelt and Monroe Locklear, both of Maxton; and James C. Locklear of Buchanan, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Madie Locklear of Wilmington, Del. JIMMIE LOCKLEAR Fellowship will follow the Installation service in the church hall. Everyone is cordialK invited to the service and the fellowship which will follow.
