Warriors
Nipped by
Trojans
by L.D. Malcolm
Turnovers again cost the
Warriors of Pembroke Senior
High as they dropped their
second straight game, this one
a 49-42 loss to the Magnolia
Trojans.
The Warriors led at the half.
28-25. and again at the end of
the third quarter 38-36. but hit
a cold spell which saw them go
scoreless for over five and a
half minutes in the fourth
quarter. The Trojans took
advantage of Warrior misfor
tune to outscore the Warriors
13-4i in the final period.
Tim Hardin led Magnolia
and all scorers with 22 points
while Eugene Emanuel tossed
in 16 for the losers.
The loss lowers Pembroke's
overall mark to 5-2.
The Warrior J.V.'s fortunes
were much better as they
trounced the Magnolia J.V.'s
62-33.
Magnolia could manage only
8 points per period for the first
three quarters while the War
riors scored 47, taking a
commanding lead at the end of
three stanzas of play.
Howard Jacobs, Telford
Locklear, and Ricky Monroe
accounted for almost all of
Pembroke's points as they
scored 22. 18, and 16 points
respectively. B. Jones was
high for Magnolia with 12.
The Warrior J.V.'s now sport
a 4-3 record.
