Oxendine. Mrs. Oxendine is on the sick list. Mrs. Rosa Blair and her mother. Mrs. Buster Burke, and Mrs. Cloyd Wicker and daughter, Ms. Betty Jo Wicker spent Tuesday visiting in Florence. S.C. Mr. Donald Ray Locklear is hospitalized at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville due to injuries he received in a motorcycle accident in which his neck was broken. As of Monday Mr. Locklear remain ed in traction, but is reported to be improving satisfactorily. Mrs. Joyce Billiard, teacher of the girls' primary Sunday School class at Pembroke Church of God presented a silver dollar to each of her students who had perfect attendance for six months. Those receiving a dollar were: Barbara Oxendine, Sarah Milligan, Lisa Lowry, Kathy Bullard, Pricella Sanderson and Jacqueline Hunt. The pastor is the Rev. Jack Hunt. Among those visiting Tues day night in the home Of Rev. and Mrs. Elton Bryan and family, pastor of Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church, were two former pastors of the same church, Rev. and Mrs. James D. Leggett of Falcon, N.C. and Rev. and Mrs. Timothy G. Creel and family of Wallace, N.C., and the Sun day School Superintendent, Mr. John Allen Smith. Mr. Earlie Maynor stopped for a short visit with the group. Mrs. Willie Lee Allen of Lumberton was admitted Wednesday of the past week in Southeastern General Hospital and was scheduled to have surgery on Monday. Mrs. Starlie Mae Lovette has returned home from her 37 days stay in North Carolina 1 Memorial Hospital tu Chapel Hill where the underwent surgery twice while there. Mrs. Lovette b reported to be recuperating satisfactorily at her hoase and wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and other kind deeds. Try on Lowry, Jr. returned home Monday morning from Southeastern General Hospital where he was a patient for several days due to having had appendectomy surgery. Tryon, Jr. celebrated his 12th birth day Sunday in the hospital and was presented a birthday cake by the staff of the hospital. He also received gifts from his family. Tryon, Jr. is a 6 grade student in the classroom of Mrs. Sherry Lowry at Pembroke Elementary School. The G.A.'s of Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church, along with their leader, Mrs. Jean Chavis and their advisor, Mrs. Barbara Ellen Bullard, were hostesses Tuesday night, May 29, 1979 at an appre ciation program held at the church in honor of one of their leaders, Mrs. Linda Sue Bul lard who resigned because she was moving with her family to Woodbridge, Virginia. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Mildred Locklear. La Jean Locklear led the group in singing "I Am A Promise." Bible scripture was read by Lisa Lowry from Proverbs 20:11. The Pledge of Allegiance to America, the Christian Flag, and the Holy Bible was led by Rhonda Maynor. Mrs. Jeannie Jacobs and Miss Caressa Creel pre sented a gift from the G.A.s to Mrs. Bullard for her out standing work with the G.A.s and society and the church. The honored guest, Mrs. Bullard gave a short talk about her work with the girls and the church. She then introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Faye Legged, the G.A.s' leader at the Pentecostal Church of Falcon. She spoke on the value of one's self to the church, and the future. REFLECTIONS AlU Oxendine On Wednesday of last week, my father had his second stroke. His right side seemed to be paralired. hut in the neat day or two he made tremen dous improvement. By Mon day. he was able to spend some time, in a wheel chair, intk?r sun porch, at the small hospital, where he receives plenty of personal attention. Lots of people have been praying for him. Mother feels that his progress is truly a miracle.
