The Robeson Comity Board of Commission ers voted to delay until their next meeting assignment of an estimated WW,00ft, three-year garbage collection contract after opening three bids Ifooday. Porter Sanitation Co. of Pembroke, owned by James F. Por ter, entered a low bid of $1.03 per cubic yard of garbage collected. Waste Industries of Raleigh entered the second lowest bid of $1.20 per cubic yard. Browning-Ferris Industries, which holds the county's existing garbage collection contract guaranteeing the firm 83 cents (or every cubic yard collected, entered a high bid of $1.34 per cubic yard for the new cootract. County Manager Paul Graham opened the sealed bids Mon day at 18 a.m. in a special meeting called by the board. At the last meeting the commissioners gave themselves until Oct. 1 to accept or reject the bids, indicating the board wanted to ensure that proper maintenance of garbage receptacles be dearly stipulated before the contract is signed. ?
