Seventy-five women from across Robeson County attended the Gover nor's Kobeaon County Conference on Leaderahtp Development for Women at Pembroke Stale University on Saturday, April 12. The Conference opened with a General Seasion with Deheava Drake, local performing artlet, Chancellor Paul Glvena of PSU. Linda Locklear, Region al Coordinator for the N.C. Council on the Status of Women, and Henry McKoy, Director of Advocacy Pro grama. Office of the Governor. Ruth Dial Woods. Teeta, Principal of Janie Hargrace School in Lumberton and Mollye Briley, Robeson County Home Estension Service, parti cipating. Ms. Patterson reviewed the leader ship of the State in promoting and encouraging active participation and involvement by women in atate government and in leadership capaci ties. noting that women are assuming roles in leadership in elected and appointed position*, and the need for increasing women involemcnl at all levels.
