IiHIKSDAY. august 7. H80 PAGE 7, THE CAROLINA INDUN VOICE News from [ever green church bvMre. Leacie Brooks Sundav School began at 9:30 ,ni with a song by our |,,s.or's wife. Sister Jessie luKklear. entitled Somebody lloves Me." Prayer was by " fo, Edmond Locklear, Jr. The Supt. Bro, Henry Cha vis gave a!! visitors and leveryone a hearty welcome. lEacli class assembled to their I rooms. The Junior High Class had I the program Sunday. It is Bro. I Edmond’s class. They sang I beautifully. Those paying their birthday I offerings to the church were I little Donnie Ray Oxendine, I sonof Mr. and Mrs.Jamie I Oxendine and grandson of Mr. I and Mrs. Bradford Oxendine. Worship service was opened I by Bro. Jimmie Jones. My I mother, Mrs. Maggie Locklear I bless her heart, was able to be I in church Sunday. She was I very weak. In a trembling I voice she sang a song entitled I "if everybody had Jesus what I a wonderful world this would I be.” Dear Reader, could you ■ just for one moment imagine I whal it would be like if every I body had Jesus? Oh, how I love my mother. I She is just a wonderful person. II love to experience seeing her I nrise and begin singing. To I me, her voice is so beautiful. I Let’s live clean and close to I Jesus then one day we’ll be I able to experience everyone I |‘'■ound us as having Jesus. —Having Jesus. Praise God, I am looking forward to that day. You and you, if you don’t have Him, please find Him. One day when you come face to face with Him, you’ll need to have Him If.. s 1. nii_ you II have “Depart. I ’ Oh, how I L,. “ I Him, If you don’v, I '0 hear Him say I iJon’t know you. 1 awful to be lost. Sister Floria Ann Jernington I was able to be back in church. I Keep pravine for her. Assistant pastor. Rev, Clos- ter Carter, preached for iis Siiiulay. It was a wonderful message, taken from Matthew 2b:41-45. He used as his subject “Watcli and pray." It is important to watch. It is most impivrtant to pray. Prayer will change things. We are still studying the -Life of Christ." Subject for Isunday's lesson was "From 1 Bondage to Liberty. We were proud to have Bro. Ipavid Karkey with us in the ■ Adult Calss. I like to see I people like Bro. David willing I to work for Jesus. We asked if I he would teach the class. And ■ he did. 1 might add. he did a I marvelous job. Our lesson was I based on the man in the tombs ■ with an unclean spirit. This ■ man was unable to help I himself. We see so many I people today in the same state. I No man is able by himself to I become free of an unclean Our lesson told us how this man would be chained with ■ chains, but. he would break I them and cut himself with ■ stones. But one day he say I Jesus. When he saw Jesus I afar off he recognized him and 0 him for help. You see. I dear reader, as we said at the ■ beginning, no one can help I themselves by themselves. When this man came to the ■point he saw Jesus as bein|_ ■ Jesus, then he could get the ■ help he needed. Jesus, being I the Son of God, spoke and I commanded those tormenting I demons to come out. And they I did. I guess you know the story I of how they went into the 2000 s and Aey drowned them- I selves. When a person gets to the I place they see the bottle, a I pill, or needle, or anything of 1 this world can not help and ;e Jesus as their only source, J ihen that person is in for a new I life. Jesus is a miracle worker. I He can do the impossible. If ■ only men and women will ■ recognize him as who he is, k believing, and then con- ■ fess the work will be done. I Praise God. There is no I special person entitled to his ■ kingdom. It is as the word ■ says, "Whosoever will, let him ■ come.” THOUGHT FOR TODAY The Young People got the I attendance banner Sunday. I Their teacher, Sister Alice I Chavis, was proud of them. Look around you and see nature working together. Our God not only permits this but He planned it. Ox endine of McColl, SC and Elder Clester Carter. We are expecting a great time in the Lord. Opportunity should begin in our own homes. There is always room for improvement in our own families. We can set a worthy example for the family of which we are a part. Every member of every family needs encouragement. Fath ers and mothers can and should take the lead in their families. We have been helped many times by our parents. Sad to say, some families are divided and because of this division are not able to help one another. When a man dies the people ask, “What property has he left behind him?” But the angels, as they bend over his grave, inquire, “What good deeds hast he sent before thee.’’ What kind of record will you leave behind you in this world? “What opportuni ties and encouragement did he leave behind him?’’ We should be on the alert at all times and seize upon every opportunity to do good. We need to do this today. I proudly think at this moment of many who have blessed my life. Foremost among these is my precious mother. People have helped us to live better whose names we cannot recall. We should make this reso lution: We are going to love everybody and iry to help the unsaved to know Jesus. There arc .some in practically every community whose thoughts are not entered in the love of God.
