THE SEVEN YEAR TRIBULATION I by Karen Bowaa The Seven Years Tribulation will begin after the Rapture (which is the catching up of the Saints). Rev. 3:10. "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience. I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation which shall come upon all the world to try them that dwell upon the earth." It is a time of pure hell on earth like this world has never known. There will be beasts which shall torture man for five months day and night and you won't be able to die. Revelations 4:1-22. Also during the tribulation, peace shall be taken from the earth. Rev. 6:4. "And there went out another horse that was red and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they(should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. There will be lots of famine during the tribulation (which means hunger). Rev. 6:6. "And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, a measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine." There will certainly be death during this great tribulation. Rev. 6:17. "The great day of his wrath is come and who shall be able to stand." Aso during the Seven Years Tribu lation, there will be seven plagues (which are called the bowels of the wrath of God.) 666 1. Mark of the Beast (Rev. 16:2). "And the first went and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the-mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image." 2. Sea into blood. Rev. 16:3. "And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea." 3. Water into blood. Rev. 16:4-7. "And {he third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fourths ?f water; and they becaire blood. (5) And I heard the angel of the waters say. thou art. righteous O Lord, which art. and wast, ?and shalt be. because thou hast judged thus. (6) For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. (7) And I heard another out of the altar say Even so. Lord God Al mighty. true and righteous are thy judgements." The seven plagues continu ed. 4. Sun scorch men's back. Rev. 16:8-9. "And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blas phemed the name of God,, which have power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory." 5. Darkness and gnawing of tongues. Rev. 16:10. "And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain." 6. Rivers dry up. Rev. 16:12. And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up. that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared." 7. Earthquakes and Hail. Rev. 16:18-21. (18) "And there were voices, and thunders and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earth quake and so great. (19) And the great city was divided into three parts, aflfctiie cities of tne nations feu; ana great Babylon came in remembrance before God. to give upto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. (20) And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. (21) And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent; and men blas phemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great." Even after going through the seven years tribulation, you got to hell for leaving Jesus Christ out of your life. Hell is a place where the ftre is not quenched and the worm dieth not. Hell is where you'll live for eternity. And eternity means having no beginning. So something having no be ginnings has no end. That means forever. So why not get right with God and go to heaven where the only street there is gold and the wall is jaspher and the gates are pearl and you'll have your own mansion built personally by God and there is no sin and all is love, joy and peace. And you'll live there for eternity. Forever. So which would you rather have and you'd better choose now because Jesus is soon, very soon, coming to rapture the saints out of this sinful, wicked world and take us to heaven for eternity. Here is how to be saved. Romans 10:9-10. "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved. (10) For with the heart man bclieveth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." If you need more informa tion. call 521 -9.150 and ask for Rev. Buck Bowen. Robert 521-8668 Enjoys visit to Native Robeson County Dear Editor: I just returned from a very enjoyable visit in my native Robeson County. The high light of the visit was seeing my delightful Mother who resides in Pembroke and is now 75 years old! Seeing and talking with other relatives and fri ends, whom I had not visited with for some time, was a very special treat. Next to the visit with Mother, there were two out standing treats that I will remember for many moons to come. Firs, Ken invited me to participate in a special tour of Old Main. What a surprise! Those responsible for this great preservation and devel opment can not help but be proud. The educational value of this final product is price less. Salvation not only is good spiritually, it certainly was good and still is in "the Old Main!" 1 also had the opportunity to see the last performance of "Strike at the Wind!" Again, I was more than elated to see that my own culture and ancestry has been developed into a fine work of art It is certainly a very well done dramatic outdoor production. Such an enjoyable experien ce makes one want to return again soon and that I will do. My next visit will have to be a longer one. Since I graduated from high school, at PSH in 1958, my visits home have been short and now 1 realize the need to re-acquaint myself' with home! My work here in Nevada as Manager for the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California is a most rewarding experience. The Tribe is small in enrollment but vety rich in culture and potential. I wel come friends and fellow tribal members who come this way to stop and visit and a 1 will certainly try to help them enjoy their stay in the West. My sincere thanks to my Mother, Mrs. Annie Jacobs, all my family and friends, who helped to make my visit so enjoyable. Peace, Leon Jacob* Tribal Manager Washoe Tribe Janie Hargrave School celebrates Indian Heritage Week I Last week Janie Hargrave School observed the North Carolina Indian Heritage cele bration with two programs. The first program presented Dr. Cheryl Locklear, Robeson County's first female Indian dentist. Dr. Locklear told the student body about her train ing at the University of North Carolina. Chapel Hill. "You can be anything you want to be if you are willing to work hard enough" said Dr. Locklear who will be teaching good dental health to hundreds of students in Robeson and Bla den counties this year. The highlight of the week long celebration came on Wednesday afternoon when Mrs. Cathy Chavit. Curri culum Specialist with Robeson I County's Indian Education Program, presented a film on the history of the Lumbee Indians in Robeson County. After the film twelve girls and boys dressed in native Ameri can Indian costumes of long ago did severai dances de picting Indian beliefs about nature. Archie Lynch and Jimmy Richardson accompanied the dancers on tom-toms. Mrs. Ella Chavis accompan ied the group. She is a Coordinator of Indian Pro grams in the Robeson County Schools. Barton | 1 Corinthian 5:7 tells us: "For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us." We already know that Jesus Christ was crucified during the observance of the Passover by the Israelites. But let's devote this column to studying this scripture in depth. If we turn to the Book of Exodus in the Old Testament we can find out more about the Passover. God had cursed Egypt with 10 plagues in order to force the Egyptian Pharoah to let His people go. The plagues were spread out over a span of almost a year. Still. Pharoah's heart was hardened; he refus ed to let the Israelites escape from under the oppressive yoke of Egypt. To show the Egyptians that God is a living God. unlike the inanimate idol of precious metals worshipped by the Egyptians. He placed the final plague upon Egypt: The first born of each household within Egypt would die. This curse would have applied to the first born of the Israelites also, had not God revealed a plan of salvation to them. The head of each Israelite household was instructed by God to kill a lamb and sprinkle the blood of the lamb over the doorway. And. as God said in Exodus 12:13: "When I see the blood. 1 will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you. when I smite the land of Egypt." God also instructed in Exodus 12:8~'*And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it." As you well know, the Israelites rejected Christ when He allowed Himself to suffer upon the cross for 6 hours before dieing. They still reject Him today. The Israelites will tell you quite readily that Christ was not their Messiah. They are still looking for their Messiah today. The really sad thing is that when the Anti christ arrives upon the scene, he will meet all the require ments of the Israelites and they, therefore, will worship him as their Messiah. But, I, for one, am glad they rejected Christ. This is all part of God's Master Plan. According to scripture, the Israelites will have to accept the Antichrist as their Messiah in order for the Tribulation Period to be gin. God knows what He is doing! Even if, at times, you and I do not understand His actions. As noted. Jesus Christ allow ed Himself to be nailed upon the Cross of Calvary. Many unbelievers scoff at the idea of Jesus giving up without a struggle. If you read the 18th chapter of John you will see that Jesus Christ had the power to escape had it been His Father's will. This scrip lure tells us that Judas be trayed Jesus and brought a band of men from the chief priests and pharisees in order to arrest Jesus. They asked Him if He was Jesus. John l8:6--"As soon then as he (Jesus) had said unto them, I am he. they (band of men) went backward, and fell to the ground." Jesus knocked His adversaries to the ground simply by His spoken word. If you read the Bible (God's Word) you will discover that His Word is just as powerful today as it was back then. Now God realized that it was next to impossible for one to inherit Eternal Life under the Law. Therefore. He revealed a plan of salvation much like he did to the oppressed people of Israel. God does not want anyone to perish in the flames of hell. That's why He sacri ficed His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ Who shed His blood on the Cross of Calvary that you and I would not have to perish in Hell for our sins. But. also, like the Israelites, it is not enough that the precious blood of Jesus Christ was shed. It has to be applied. You recall, the Israelites had to apply the blood of the lamb over the doorframe in order for the Death Angel to pass over their household. Therefore, we. as children of God, must be washed in the Blood of the Lamb. Jesus Christ or else we will not acquire salvation. The Death Angel will overtake us also (Remember, the wages of sin is Death!). Also, "if you recall, the Israelites were ordered to eat the lamb along with unleaven ed bread after the blood was applied over the door facing. (In the Bible "Leaven" is used in counties* parables to signify sin. This tells us that we should not partake of sin after we are washed in the Blood of the Lamb.), We, too, after the sacrificed Blood of the Lamb is applied to our life, must have nourish ment. John 6:54 tells us: "Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eter nal life; and 1 will raise him up at the last day." Therefore, in order to nourish that salvation, and thereby grow in God, we need to attend God's Res taurant, the Church and enjoy a double helping of Christ's blood and flesh. As the British Pastor might say (also a favorite line of our Sunday School teacher, Mar shal Bowen): "This is a bloody well religion." Thank God for the Blood of Jesus.
