Lead* Brooks Sunday School opened at 9:30 with a song entitled "Somebody Loves Me and Answers my Prayers" by the pastor's wife. The subject for Sunday's lesson was "God's Call to Service." Samuel, the child of about twelve years old ministered unto the Lord before Eli. God can use children in his service. Eli began to become very weak and his sight became dim. Samuel was very devo ted to him. During the night Samuel heard his named called. Thinking Eli had call ed. Samuel went to see. Three times this happened, but Eli would say I didn't call you. Then he said go lie down and if he calls say speak Lord thy servant heareth. Eli knew it was the Lord. So he asked Samuel what the Lord had told him. The message the Lord gave him was of con demnation upon Eli and his sons. Eli was a fine man but he had failed to restrain his sons from their crimes. * So often fathers fail to teach their sons the right way. Mothers fail to teacher their daughter in the way the Lord would have them to go. The . Lord will hold each parent responsible. Father, mpther, if you don't have Jesus, get him. Then you will know the right way to teach your children. Thev mav be crown, married with a family of their own. yet and still they need Christian parents so they'll be able to ask, Dad is this the way or Mom should 1 do this. You see, it is this way. If we are sure we have done our best, then we'll feel good inside. Sister Macie Oxendine's class put on a program of beautiful singing. The adult class again receiv ed the attendance banner. I'm proud of all of you. Those paying Their birthday offerings to the church were Miss Fay Ammons. Mrs. Libbie Lee Locklear. We were proud to have Sister Nancy Ann Oxendine and Sister Flora Ann Jer ningan in church. Both had . been out sick. These sisters, along with my mother. Mrs. Maggie C. Locklear. and Sister Ella Baker, are the oldest sisters of our church. My mother and sister, Ella have been out sick for a good while. Please pray they will be able to come to church soon. Worship service was great. The Lord sent a great shower of blessings on our souls. We had a shouting time. It was wonderful to see how the Lord did bless His people. 1 praise God for the way He blessed my soul. The pastor read Psalms 122, verse 1, using for his subject. "I was Glad."* IT was an inspiring message. Wednesday night prayer service was under the direc tion of Bro. Wlkins Wilkins. Pray we will have a great time. The Sunday School Rally is to begin at 7:30 Friday night. Come and see the great work the people are doing in the conference. Each church is to put on a program. Our pastor, along with the program direc tor. Sister Lora Amonds and Bro. Edmon Locklear gave everyone a special welcome. Saturday at 2:30 p.m.: Con ference. Each member is urged to be present. Sunday at 2:30 p.m. is the regular monthly singing. Come with your group and sing for us. After singing we'll be having communion service around 6 o'clock. Come and let's take Sacra ment and wash feet together. You'll enjoy this. Thought for Today "The Importance of Choice" Each individual has a choice. There are two ways to choose from. But only one way to go. Right or wrong. Never again will we be able to live yesterday. Yesterday is already passed. Whethar it was lived right or wrong, it won't be changed. Yesterday is gone forever. And to morrow. well tomorrow may never come. You see. today we have a chance to be sure of the choice we make for this day. What soever you would like to do. or like to be. make that choice today. The choice you make today will count for ail your tomorrows. Please, dear reader, if you haven't as yet made the right choice for your life, 1 beg you. do it now. Jesus...that's the right choice. Please pray for us at Ever Green. ^ I LaiafcM ] j PHd? | Cmtom Mm#* j "rtSuSSf j
