participate in N.C. State's
Minority High School Ap
prentice Program. The Ap- ?
prentice Program wll be held
at the N.C. State School of *
Veterinary Medicine, June
15-July 24. Miss Locklear will
be one of three participants
chosen in the state for the
program designed primarily
for students who are consid
ering veterinary medicine as
their career.
During the sis week ap
prenticeship Miss Locklear
will work closely with three
professors on the faculty of
the School of Veterinary Me
dicine. The students will work
in areas of research as well as
weekly field trips to facilities
in the area Involved in veter
inary medicine. The visits wll
include a hatchery, poultry
processing, plants, an animal
diagnostic lab, NCSU resear
ch farms and state veteri
narian's office. The students
wll be employed by N.C.
State as an apprentice during
the program.
Miss Locklear Is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Holly F.
Locklear of Route 3, Mai ton.
She plans to attend N.C. State
after graduation from Pros
pect High and eventually
aspires to enter the N.C. State
School of Veterinary Medi
cine.
