Hun , Jr. proclaimed last week, May 1-7, as Nurses Week in North Carolina. The North Carolina Community College System trains approximately 55 per cent of the registered nurses working in the state, and nearly 100 percent of the licensed practical nurses. Nurses at Robeson Tech were honored during the week. ?A representative of the North Carolina Humanities visited the RTC campus May 6th to introduce Interested individuals and groups to the services and grants available from the committee. -Ms. Ruby Tyson, Visiting Artist at Bladen Tech, visited the RTC campus May 11, 1983 \ K> give a guesi performance. Her talent is piano. ??-Exams have been scheduled for May 12th. 13th, and 16th. --RTC is planning a Spring Workshop for Cosmetology instuctors at the Lumberton Holiday Inn May 15-16, 1983. Dr. Ron DiSalvo will be the guest speaker. For additional information, call 738-7101, Ext. 160. -Robeson Tech is offering a "Ground School for Pilots" course on Tuesday nights beginning May 17, 1983 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on campus. Jane Tyner has been slated as the instructor. The cost is $15. For more information, call 738-7101, Ext. 169. -May is the month that the Community College System celebrates its 20th Anniver sary. Robeson Tech has been a member of that system lor the past 18 years. On May 17, 1963, the legislation that created die 58 cam pes system was ratified. The system has chosen a theme to carry oat its celebration: "North Carolina Community College System, 20th Year, More Gass Than Ever!" -The Robeson Tech Summer Quarter Registration will be held May 16-18, 1963. -The RTC Alumni Associa tion will hold its next meeting May 19, 1963, at 7:30 p.m. in the campus library. Interested persons are urged to attend. For more information, contact Margaret Locfclear, at 738 7101, Ext 166. -The RTC Career Develop ment Program will begin May 23, 1983 and last for four weeks. Classes will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and there is a registration fee of $8. The curriculum includes job preparation skills, entry level employment training and basic educational skills. The program is designed to recruit, train and place the unemployed and underem ployed into jobs or vocational training. --RTC students who are inter ested in being on next years's Annual Staff should apply immediately in the campus Public Relations Office.
