league on Wednesday, Oct 3
with St. Pauls playing Max
ton. St. Pauls defeated the
opposition 34-0.

but St. Pauls soon put their

Here is s game played
world-wide and yet many
American kids have never
played it. Europe is dotted
with smaller soccer fields just ,
as our country is dotted with
Little League baseball fields.
The simplest Way to learn the
fundamentals of soccer with
school kids is to form a circle
with tie teacher in the
middle. He can toss the ball to
each player and have them
"head" the ball on the hair
line back to him. Then
practice chest trapping, pass
ing, instep kicking, dribbling,
passing two on one, etc. It is a*
great game requiring little
equipment and it is not a body
contact sport with very few
injuries. Games can be played
by having four forewards,
three half-backs and three
fullbacks and a goalie. Make
shift goals can be set-up with
chairs until regulation goals
can be installed. Kids just
love this game and should be
given the opportunity to play
it as has been done in many
places in Robeson County.
