Ray Oxendine named
to Catawba Sports
Hall of Fame
the Carolines Conference for two years
(1970 & 1974) and NA1A District 26
Coach of the Year honors once.
Resigning his post at Catawba in 1974,
Oxendine embarked u?on a career
in public school education, joining the
administration at Hallsboro Senior High
School as assistant principal and guidan
ce counselor. He later was named
' principal at East Montgomery High
School and recently completed a year's
leave with the North Carolina State
Department of Public Instruction as
executive assistant for the Principals
Institute. Following his work with the
state department, he returned to Mont
gomery County and the principalship at
West Montgomery. '
He is the father of two daughters and
is married to the former Debbie
Hutchinson.
Oxendine's brother. Dr. Joseph Oxen
dine, a member of the faculty at Temple
University in Philadelphia, was also an
exceptional athlete at Catawba and was
inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1978.

his thanks to all the members

other projects as well, in
cluding VA Hospital visits,
military funerals, aid to com
rades in distress and their
dependents. Veterans Day
parade and fish fry. and the
annual Veterans Day Sunday.

Mrs. Dorieen S. Hall, a
kindergarten teacher for over
16 years, has been selected
the 1984-85 Teacher of teh
the Year for Deep Branch
Elementary School.
Mrs. Hall obtained a B.S.
Degree from Southeastern
Louisiana College and a M.A.
degree from Appalachian
State University.
Mrs. Hall is married to
Gene Hall of Lumberton.
They are parents of two
daughters, Averi Renee and
Teacher of the Year.
