Through the Braves' first 13 games, Johnson has emerged as the team's fourth leading scorer (11.3) and second leading rebounder (7.1). In addition, the Wilmington native has made 52 percent of his shots from the field (55-106) and 73 pertent from the line (37-51). Pembroke State Coach Dan Kenney feels Steve has become one of the better forwards in the tough Carolines Conference. "I think that Steve has just done an outstanding job for us. Right now he might be the best high post player in the Carolinas Conference," commented Coach Kenney. "When he catches the ball at the foul line he is very versatile, he is a good ? hooter and can shoot that shot and he is an exceptional passer fur a big man and he really makes our offense go with his assists. His rebounding has really come on recently." Coach Kenney added, "Steve is a very, very firey competitor and he plays very hard on the court.
