South Robeson Honor Roll ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS MOVE CLOSER TO ACCREDITATION Four county elementary schools have completed the major steps for receiving accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Each of the four elementary schools: Piney Grove, Union Chapel, Union Elementary, and Southside/ Ashpole, have compiled written educational and facility self studies and have received written evaluations of the individual self studies from a group of independent /visiting teams who specialize in the various aspects of the educational programs and who are employed butside the educational system. Official notification of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools will be announced by the Association at the end of May. Parents and community citizenry are assured of accountability and of value for their tax dollars through the' process of setting standards and the regular re- ,evaluation of Southern Association of- 'CoUeges and Schools member institutions. Founded in 1895, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is one of six regional accrediting bodies in the United States. ORRUM SCHOOL SEEKS CONTINUING ACCREDITATTON A sixteen member visiting committee conducted two days of formal observation and evaluation of Orrum High School during May 7 and 8 as a result of a ten year re- accreditation policy established by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, faculty, students and parents benefit by knowing that conditions for teaching and learning meet high standards established by the Association and that efforts are continuously made for school improvement. Communities with accredited schools can be confident that their schools compare favorably with others in the region and nation.
