I ? a ? 1 I Former Miss Utah to be Mistress of Ceremonies at Pageant Jean Bvllard, Mut Utah 1980 The Miss Lumbee Pageant to be held on July 3, 1987 at the PSU Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. announced today that the Mistress of Ceremonies will be Mrs. Jean Bullard Hernandez of Covins, California. Jean is a former Miss Lumbee and was Miss Utah in 1980-81. She attended Pembroke State University for two years where she was a T music major.and a member of the Singers and Swingers. She also attended Brigham Young University where she performed with the Latnanite Generation. She received her Bachelor of f.trn <i!|tw hi Education from Brigham Young University and her Master's Degree in Education at the California State University in Los Angeles. She is currently attending California I\>lytechnic University to further her education. She is married to Tony Hernandez and the mother of two sons, Sean and Anthony Brian. She is the daughter of Pastor and Mrs. James Harold Woods. She has a twin sister, Joan Bullard Goedel and \ brother, Cedric, who is a Morehead Scholarship recipient. Special events are planned daring the performance nights ihat will be of interest to people from 9 to M. Strike at the Wind wfll be held Thursday- Saturday, July 4 September 7 at the Lakeside Amphitheatre. " Art I Exhibit Planned by Bruce Barton Harvey Godwin, Jr. dou bles as manager of the local Hill's Food Store and as Henry Berry Lowrie in the exciting outdoor drama "Stri ke at the Wind." And he works hard at both, no doubt 'about it For the second year in a row, Harvey, along wiht Juli an Pierce, the chairman of i9trike at the Wind's board are (Sponsoring a dinner and art exhibit at the Ramada Inn in Lumberton. Hie rest of the board is involved too, of course. As usual, they are [raising monies for another I season of 9trike at the Wind. ' Last year the event was very successful, and featured Gene Locklear as artist and Senator Hector McLean as banquet speaker. Monies raised go to support Strike at the Wind. Tills year painters Ellis Sampson and Shelia Godwin are being featured with an exhibit of their works, and the unveiling of a special painting of Rhoda Strong Lowrie by Sampson. 250 Limited Edition Lithographs of the painting are now available for sale, and the will be auctioned off the night df'the banquet by local Legislator Danny DsVsm.
