Coal Ash: A Key National Asset Did you know that after coal is burned for electricity, it leaves behind coal ash ? America's fourth largest min eral resource? Increased use of this economical and ver satile resource may save everyone money. Here's why. Increased recovery and utilization of coal ash can benefit everyone. We already utilize a fourth of our coal ash resources and stockpile the rest. With ade quate information on its ben efits to industry, and aware ness of the resource's real worth, we could probably use all of the coal ash we produce. According to the American Coal Ash Association, at 100 percent utilization of coal ash. the sale of this product repre sents $1 billion a year to util ity companies. More revenue from coal ash may decrease the rates we pay for electric power. Those interested in learn ing more about the applica , tions of coal ash can receive more information by writing: American Coal Ash Associa tion, Inc., 1000 16th St., NW, Fifth Floor, Washington, D C. 20036. j Qrtu^.
