A PSALM OF LIFE by Henry W. Longfellow Tell me not In mournful numbers Life is but an empty dream For the soul is dead that slumbers And things are not what they seem. Life is real Life is earnest And the grave is not Its' goal Dust thou art-to dust returnest Was not spoken of the soul. Not enjoyment and not sorrow Is our destined end or way But to act that each tomorrow Find us further than today. Art is long And time Is feeting And our hearts though stout and brave Still like muffled dreams are beating Funeral marches to the grave. In the world's broad field of battle In the bivouc of lire Be not like dumb driven cattle 'Be a hero In the strife. Trust no future, However pleasant Let the dead past bury its dead Act, act In the living present Heart within and God ore'head. Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime And departing, leave behind us Footprints in the sands of time. Footprints that perhaps another Sailing over life's solemn mien A forlorn and shipwrecked brother Seeing shall take heart again. Let us then be up and doing With a will for any fate Still achieving, still pursuing Learn to labor and to wait. Ill MMI ftOCMTY CHKAOO, HUNOtt *0*M / GLORIOUS PROSPECT m *? * * ?? to tne true Christian, one of the most wonderful passages in the whole Bible is Ephesians 2:7, where we read of God's purpose: That in the ages to come He might show the exceed ing riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus." This passage appears the more wonderful when viewed in the light of its context. Verses 2 to 6 tell how we were all once the "children of disobedience," and there fore "by nature the children of wrath, even as others." But then we read those wonderful words of hope, "But God" "But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us...." And the next verses tell how He has taken believers in Christ from the lowest position of condemnation and wrath and given them the highest place of favor and blessing in Christ at His own right hand in the heavenlies. The simplest, humblest believer in Christ as His Savior has been given this position in the heavenlies, for God no longer sees him in himself, but in ^Christ, who died for his sins. This is why St. Paul so often writes about "those who are in Christ Jesus." It is for the believer now to occupy this exalted posi tion, to appropriate by faith the "all spiritual blessings" which are his in Christ (See Ephesians 1:3). Like Paul, he may be lifted by grace, through faith, above the troubles and sorrows of "this present evil age" and enjoy his position and bless ings in the heavenlies in Christ. And even this is not all, for looking far ahead to the future, the Apostle by divine revelation goes on to say (in Ephesians 2:7) that God has done this all for us, "that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus." ? 1 YEAR- 2% YEAR MONEY - MARKET fed B I ANNUALIZED YIELD | I RATE 8.00% | I 6 MONTH MONEY I MARKET | CERTIFICATE I I SIMPLE I INTEREST I I DEPOSITS FEDERALLY INSURED TO $100,000.00 I I Substantial Penalty For Early Withdrawal ?
