Pembroke State University has "spurted" over its
Robeson County United Way goal as exemplified by this
art work by Dr. Stan Jenkins of the PSU Art Department.
Standing by the sign is Mormie Sanderson, coordinator of
the PSU United Way campaign. PSU has raised Si, 935.
PSU AGAIN SURPASSES ITS GOAL
IN GIVING TO UNTIED WAY
For the fourth straight year Pembroke State
University has surpassed its goal of giving to Robeson
County United Way.
PSU has donated $2,935 in its campaign which ended in
November. Its goal was $2,800.
Coordinator of PSU's effort was again Monnie
Sanderson, secretary in the PSU Office of Public
Information. Because of her leadership, PSU has received
past plaques from Robeson County United Way for
"Outstanding Achievement" and being a "Pacesetter."
PSU's giving has increased each year, being $1,705 in
'86, $2,000 in '88, $2,765 in '89. and $2,935 this year.
To dramatiaqj|s effort^'PSU has erected a United Way
thermometer%^tW quadrangle of its campus so all could
see the progress. When PSU went over the top in its
giving, an over-the-top "spurt" was painted on the
thermometer.
Mrs. Sanderson was very pleased over this latest effort.
"Because of the tight budget times, I didn't know if we
would reach our goal, and I'm delighted that we
surpassed it anyway," she said.
