Racing continues at Hammer Down Speedway each
Saturday night with the Midget Racing point lyatem
beginning April 6 and 4-Wheeler Racing point ayatem
beginning April 80. Points will be awarded for each
position and the aeaaon champion will be announced in
the fall at the annual banquet. ,
A largo crowd was on hand Saturday night to watch the
Adult and Rse-Wee 4-wheelers and the Midget races.
Hammer Down Speedway isdocated on Old Lowry Road
in Red Springs between Highways 211 and 71, neat to
Thunder Valley. Gates open for racing each Saturday
night at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 7 p.m. A
concession stand and dean reshrooms are located on die
premises and no alcoholic beverages are allowed.
Racing fans are encouraged to come out and enjoy
a night of racing under the stars. For information call

cause?effect reasoning, and classification trees for finding the main
idea * are the concrete fools that will be used for applying Thinking

Graphic organization of words provides a visual crossroads of the
content being taught and the thinking processes used to pattern the
content. When used during the teaching-learning process these visual
maps can be openings to the use of an expanded repertoire of com
munication tools.
Staff Training - Workshops, prior to summer, guide instructional
personnel through the integration of "Thinking Maps" into classroom
practice: (1) Connecting Thinking Maps to Content and Basic Skills in
struction (2) Cooperative Learning (3) Discipline through Conflict Map
ping and (4) Content Lesson Design.
Consultant ? David Hyerle is a nationally known consultant and
author. He has trained teachers using graphic organizers ? and has
authored Building Blocks of Thinking with Jack Glade and Ex
pand Your Thinking.
