Locklear Visits Area I Lonzell Locklear, Jr. of Canada is currently visiting Pembroke during the/American Indian Heritage Week. Lonzell is the son of the late Lonzell Locklear, formerly of Pembroke and Ruth Locklear. He is the grandson of Swannie Locklear and the late Tonnie Locklear of the SL Annah Community. Lonzell graduated from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgaiy, Canada with a diploma in Engineering and Industrial Technology in 1981. He graduated from the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Canada with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, granted from distinction in 1986. He received his Masters of Science in Molecular Biology in December 1989 after receiving scholarships from the Medical Research Council of Canada and the Heritage Foundation for Medical Research using a Diesis entitled "Electron Spectroscopic Imaging of Deoxyribonucleic Acid." Lonzell is a Foreign Service Officer (Diplomat). He was on temporary duty from February 13th thru May 28th 1990 in Hong Kong, China at the Canadian Consulate. His duties there included issuing Visas to people wishing to visit Canada, to those wishing to attend the University of Canada also those wishing to immigrate to Canada. He also performed consular duties such as assisting Canadians travelling in Hong Kong and conducting area trips to Guangshow (Canton) China and Macao. Lonzell is currently a Foreign Service Officer with the Canadian Department of External Affairs. He will be staffing Canadian Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates around the world. He will also provide consular assistance to Canadians and cany out programs intended to "Advance Canada's Foreign Policy Objec tives."
