James Gregory Bell Attorney for Plaintiff P.O. Bex 2142 ' Lum barton, N.C. 28359-2142 Telephone: (919) 738-5530 rUBLIC NOTICE The Fanner* Home Administration (FMHA) has received a pre-applica tion for financial assistance from the Town of Pembroke. The specific ele ment* of this proposed action is the construction of a 1.33 MGD wastewa ter treatment plant along withover7,000 feet of collection line extension and repair of approximately 2000 feet of existing collection lines. FMHA has assessed the potential environmental impacts of this proposed action and has determined that if implemented ap proximately S acres of prime or state important farmland could be directly impacted due to the installation of the wastewater treatment plant. The exact location of the possible direct impact is a 5 acre site along SR 1339 at the intersection of and on the southeast side of the Seaboard Coastline Rail road. This site also adjoins the existing wastewater treatment plant for the Town of Pembroke. Furthermore, a direct impact on wetlands could occur as the 18" discharge outfall line will traverse approximately 200 feet be tween the above described site and the Lumber River. At least part of this proposed construction area could be wetlands. All disturbed wetlands will be replaced to its existing contours af ter construction. Any written com ments regarding this determination should be provided within thirty (30) days of this publication to W. Jerry Batten, District Director, Farmers Home Administration, 325 E. Fourth Street, Lumberton, NC 28358. FMHA will make no further decisions regarding this proposed action during this thirty day period. Say you read It In m ?*? l\Wai II iJl Direct utposit Saves Time, Money (NU) - Americans have become a nation of micro-managers, trying to squeeze work, chores, errands, exer cise and a little leisure time into over scheduled lives. Here are two tips that can free a few hours a month that may now be wasted on unnecessary tasks. Try di rect deposit and pre-authorized pay ment. Employees spend up to 24 hours a year going to the bank to deposit their paychecks, according to the National Automated Clearing House Association. Arranging to have your paycheck deposited directly into your account electronically saves you that time, not to mention worry over checks that don't get deposited promptly because you're on vaca tion or out sick. Direct deposit isn't just for pay checks, either. It can be used for Social Security benefits, stock divi dends, pensions and annuities. And the service saves money as well as time ? checks deposited electroni cally start earning interest immedi ately, not whenever they arrive in the mail and you find time for that trip to the bank. Pre-authorized payment is a ser vice for paying utility, mortgage, auto or other regular bills electronically. If you write 10 to IS checks a month, pre-authorized payments can save you $3S to $52 a year in postage, as well as hours of check-writing time. It also means an end to late fees, since bills are paid by the due date. For more information on direct deposit, send SO cents to Federal Reserve Direct Deposit Brochure, Dept. 442-Y, Consumer Information Center, Pueblo, CO 81009. House candidate receives1 clean "bill of health" As the Democratic candidate for North Carolina House of Representa tives, District 85,1 feel it is important that I comment publicly on my recent hospitalization. Having been in excel lent health all my life, 1 was admitted to Southeastern General Hospital on Au gust 19th by my family physician. Dr. Ben Hardin, for observation and ex amination. During the next three days, 1 underwent extensive diagnostic test, examination and treatment at South eastern General Hospital As a precautionary measure, I was further scheduled for outpatient testing at Duke Medical Center on Tues day, August 25th. Following the ex-1 aminatkm, Dr. Robert Peters told my wife, "Your husband has the heart and arteriesofaneighteenyearold." Natu rally, this was a relief to me and my family On Wednesday, September 2nd, I had a complete and thorough physical examination with Dr. Ben Hardin, and again was given a clean "bill of health". Incidentally, the Sep tember 2nd physical exam was my regu lar physical examination and had been scheduled prior to my admission to Southeastern General Hospital. It is with great pleasure that I commend Dr. Hardin and his staff for their professionalism, courtesy and prompt action. My stay in Southeast em General Hospital was a tremendous success due to the dedicated and pro fessional actions of all the Southeast em General Hospital staff involved in my short stay. Fran the moment I walked into Dr. Hardin's office until 1 was released from Southeastern Gen eral Hospital, my treatment was courte ous, precise and professional in every respect. My outpatient examination at Duke Medical Center was handled in the same manner. 1 wish to personally * thank those individuals, supporters, groups and churches that unselfishly gave their thoughts and prayers on my behalf. In addition, I wish to thank my family for their support and concerns. Now that all this is behind me and I now again havea clean "bill ofhealth," I am now moving forward with my campaign for election to the N.C. House and the opportunity to represent all the people of District 85 in the legislature. . Ronnie Sutton Democratic Candidate N.C.
