. Swearing In Ceremony

Sheriff Glenn Maynor
Sheriff-elect Glenn Maynor
will be sworn in as the Sheriff of
Robeson County at 3:30 p.m. Mon
day, December 5, 1994 at the
Robeson County Courthouse in
Lumberton.
Weather permitting, the cer
emony will be held on the front
steps of the Robeson County Court
house. Streets are to be closed to
vehicular traffic to accommodate
guests that desire to witness this
historic event.
In the case of rain or other
extreme weather conditkms, the cer
emony will be moved to the Robeson
Community College Auditorium at
4:00 p.m. on the same date
Hundreds of people are ex
pected to gather to see Robeson
County's First Native American Sher
iff sworn in.
Participants in the ceremony
will include the Honorable Dexter
Brooks, Resident Superior Court
Judge, Representative Ron Sutton,
NC House of Representatives and
Miss Lumbee, Lorna McNeill
The public is invited and en
couraged to attend this most signifi
cant event. The ceremony is sched
uled for 3:30 in the afternoon to give
more working people an opportunity
to attend.

Center on Saturday, December 10,
1994 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m
Everyone is invited to come and

Tribes and Urban Indian Centers
who make up the NC Indian Cultural
Center Board will have representativs

Christmas tree - planted at the
entrance to the Center
Once the trees have been decorated,
there will be a special ceremony to
officially begin the Holidav season at
the Cultural Center. There will be
singing, storytelling, special Native
American Music and Dance, aits
and crafts for sale. There will be an
opportunity to make an ornament for
your personal tree

Jr. presented the annual Awards for
Outstanding Volunteer Service for
the Central region, Tuesday evening.

at the Lee County Civic Center

Ceremonies. The invocation was
provided by The Reverend Eric N.

Church of Sanford Entertainment
was provided by the Triton High
School Showchoir of Erwin, a group
