The frost is upon the "[pumpkins and all the little ones are selecting their favorites for the perfect jack-o-lantern. w hile the spooks are popping up all over tow n and country lawns This special season, between Rummer and Winter, is indeed a very pleasant season, not too hot or too cold and yet it is a bit controv ersial because Of Halloween, and the stigma that goesalong w ith w hat some call Devil Night" when the children are out trick or treating, unfortunately there is good and bad in just about everything, so with this years Halloween Night approaching I would 1 like to caution each and ev ery one of us in Saddletree and all other areas to Strive to make this a safe Halloween Season by using sensible and wise judgment in determining when and wherey ou allow your children to roam On this designated evening Many churches will be offering special programs and treats on this night and would be the best alternative in my view It is always best to take precautionary measures and to use parental discretion on this evening Remember we are not living in the good old days any more Times and things hav e changed and unfortunately not for the belter So please everyone be careful and cautious and hav e a fun and safe Halloween! It seems to be the season for Church Homecoming, also As many have been celebrating lately and it has been ?my pleasure to cover most of them Zion Hill Baptist Church celebrated tlieir Homecoming Service on Sunday. October 15.1995 with special honorary a m services Dinner was in the Fellowship Hall, with a mighty bountiful supply of wonderfully prepared food, and good fun and ? fellowship Then into their beautiful ' brand new sanctuary for some special -Singing with some 14 area groups participating Zion Hill, where the - Rev Jerry L.Thompson is pastor, will be holdinga special dedication service on Nov ember 26.1995 and they extend a cordial invitation to all of you to come and worship w ith them and join in the celebration of the dedication of their new sanctuary on this date. Bethel Hill Baptist Church, here in Saddletree, will be holding their' Fall Harvest Day"' on Saturday. November 4.1995. Tliis is a day of fun. food, and fellowship and the men fry ing fish and chicken, while the ladies take care of the rest, making sure there is lots of sweets to satisK "Mr. Levi Chavis". This is always a fun filled day and a day where young and old alike can fellowship together in a relaxed atmosphere They invite you to come out and join them on this harvest day of food. fun. and fellowship Ms Eve (Finley ) Brown held a luncheon in her home on Tuesday. October 17.1995. The luncheon was held as a showing of love and support for her sister. Ms. Paulette Dial, who has been called out of town to be with her daughter. Paula who lives in Michigan and has surgery scheduled for later this month. All of Eve's sisters were present for the luncheon, along with close fnends and associates A special prayer was made for a safe trip for Paulette. and she requested your prayers for her daughter. Update I caught a glimpse of Mr Derek Bell one day last week during one of his therapy sessions at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and I w as delighted at the tremendous progress this young man has made You are doing a great job Derek, and Dad (William Earl) was all smiles and with good reason!!! Nw Happy Birthday is in order for a "very special person" and when I say special 1 mean special in "every sense of the word" On October 29. 1993 Ms Donna Renae Brewmgton will be celebrating her birthday. Donna is married to Mr Ray Brew ington and she is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Donald Ray Locklear and she just happens lobe one of the kindest, most considerate young ladies 1 have ever known. So ii is with this in mind thai I would like to wish Donna a very, very special Happy Birthday from her hubby.
